Be it known that I, Gnoiion HENRY lViinAnr, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Racine, in the county of Racine and State of YVlisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Trunk-Fixtures, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specilication.

This invention relates to improvements in trunk fixtures more particularly, although not solely, adapted for use in wardrobe trunks having closed ywardrobe section ends.

Many wardrobe trunks now on the market have closed wardrobe section ends and in revmoving 4or draping garments over the garment hangers mounted on the traclzs of the trunk it is'necessary to withdraw the hangers from the wardrobe section` In the present construction of trunk lixtures the hangers cannot be conveniently withdrawn and particularly when garments are draped thereon.

It is one of the objects of the present invention to overcome the before mentioned objectionable `features and provide a trunk .fixture in which the extensible ends oi the tracks may be swung out oit the wardrobe section of the trunk and firmly maintained in extended position by a means which will also withdraw the hangers from the trunk section.

A further object of the invention is to provide a trunk fixture having means ior automatically locking the extensible track ends in folded position.

A further objet ot the invention is to provide a trunk fixture in which the extensible tra cl2: ends cannot be swung to folded position until the garment hangers have been slid into the trunk section, and when so moved will be automatically maintained in position within the trunk section.

A furtherobject of the invention is to provide a trunk fixture which is of simple con struction, is Vstrong and durable and is well adapted for the purpose described.

lV ith the above and other objects in view the invention consists of the improved trunk fixture and its parts and combinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.

Referring to the drawing the numeral 8 indicates the upper portion of the wardrobe section of a wardrobe trunk of the closed top type having the improved trunk fixture 9 mounted therein. The improved fixture 9 comprises a rear bar or member 10 securely fastened to the upper portion of the back oi the trunk section and has connected thereto iiXed parallel tracks 11 which project forwardly therefrom in spaced relation adjacent the side walls of the trunk section. The forward end portions of the fixed tracks are provided with and supported by downwardly extending angular brackets 12 which are connected to side walls of the trunk section. Downwardly -loldable extensible tracks 13 are hinged to the outer ends of the iiXed tracks 9 as indicated by the numeral 14 and at their outer end portions are formed with tubular enlargements 15 and projecting stop knobs 16. rllhe hinge portions 14 are constructed to iiorni a smooth flush connection between the parts to permit the tubular hangerLcarrying members 17 to freely slide thereover. The said tubular members are formed with longitudinally extending elongated slots 17 on their lower sides and are slidably mounted on the fixed tracks and correspond approximately to the length ot said tracks and are adapted to support the two point suspension hangers 18 thereon having opposite hooked end portions 18 which hook over the tubular members.

fixture mounted extending fingers or handles 2O having spring locking members 2l connected to and projecting forwardly therefrom. rlhe brackets i2 extend through the elongated slots 17 and said slots permit the sliding movement of the tubular members with relation to the iixed brackets.

The distance between the hinge connection lll and the inner edge of the tubular enlargement l5 ot each extensible track is less than the length ot eachtubular hanger supporting member i7 so that when the extensible tracks are swung upwardly and the vtubular members are pulled outwardly to their limit orn travelas shown in Fig. 2 the hinge jointswill be overlapped by the tubular supporting members and the extensible tracks will be r.maintained in extended or open position. The tubular supporting members are pulled outwardly by means ot the downwardly extending handles or fingers and in pulling out the members-the upstanding Afingers 'i9 will cause the garment hangers 18 rest-ing on the members and garments Vand the hangers mounted thereon into the wardrob section the extensible tracks Vwill automatically swing downwardly by gravity and Awill snap into locking engagement with and between the spring members 2l and be yieldingly maintainedl in said position. As

the garments draped over the hangers will rojectv sidewise beyond the opposite' ends the hangers the extensible tracks will also serve to holdv them in position.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that the trunk fixture is of very simple construction and is well adapted for the purpose desired.
