Description
UNITED STATES ALBION P. COLE, O1 BROCKTON', MASSACHUSETTS.
INTERIOR DECORATIVE FINISH.
No Drawing.
To aZZ whom it man concern:
Be it known that 1, Annex P. Corn, a
citizen of the United States, residing at 'i'oclrton, in the county of Plymouth and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful im roveinents in interior Decorative Fir ish, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to interior decora 'shes for application on plaster, wood, or other finished interiors, and having a main portion consisting oi wood pulp in moist plastic term, an adhesive portion for first treating the surface to whic i the finish is to be applied, and a finishing portion, or graduator, consisting of elements to be applied for surface or finishing purposes.
The main portion consists of a wood pulp without artificial coloring, each natural tint being used in proportion to the'color etlect desired. and to which is added flour, petre turn, and gl cerin, forming a mass of c \veling consistency.
The adhesive portion which is first applied to the surface to be decorated, consists of flour, anim-f glue, and molasses, the flour predominat' g, the amount of each other in- .2 according to the tempera- .4 n 1 turc Oi the executed.
The finishing portion consists of petroituni, glgcerin, silicate oi soda, and camphor, tor principal ingredients, and magnesia, silex, paraflin wax, and potato starch, as secondary ingredients, to be added as required to give the desired finish which may be from egg-shell to a polish.
My main portion has the possibility oi": manipulation and mixing, creating unlimited decorative designs of varied and set patterns. It is plastic, and each batch made from a different wood or bark, has its individual color, making it possible to reproduce any design. It forms a tough coating that will stand much wear, is practically non-cracking, is readily cleaned and patched, and being in plastic form gives a surface without laps or seams.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 6, 192 1.
Application filed January 6, 1921. Serial No. 435,537.
I make no claim under this application for the process or method of decoration with my finish, that being covered in another application oi even date. I
To the best of my knowledge and belief, I am the first inventor of a plastic decorative interior finish in which various wood pulps are utilized, their natural colorings producing the color effects of the decorations, and to which is added flour for an adhesive, petrolatum for permanent resiliency, and glycerin as a non-drier, which in its application is to be preceded by an adhesive, and followed by a surface finishing process.
it is impossible to confine the artisan to a non-changing table for the various portions to be used, as the same varies according to the temperature and other conditions of the room in which the work is being performed.
Having described the various ingredients used in the several portions which in some instances may be substituted by other like ingredients without departing from the true invention, what I claim asnew and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In; a composition of matter, for interior decorative finish, a main or body portion of wood pulp, flour toran adhesive, petrolatum for permanent resiliency, and glycerin as a non-drier, the colorings being derived from the natural coloring of the wood pulp.
2. A composition of matter, for interior decorative finish, consisting of wood pulp to which is added wheat flour for an adhesive, petrolatum to prevent excessive hardening. and glycerin as a non-drier, and adapted to be applied to interior decorative surfaces by the use of adhesives, and to receive a surface finish after being applied.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
