i Be it known that I, MAnYJ-Ezova, a citizen `of Czechoslovakia, residing at Wallis, in the county ofAustin and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snowplows, of whichthe following is a specication.
The present invention `relates to snow plows adapted to be positioned at the front end of a motor vehicle and being of triangular formation with the sides thereof capable 4of independent vertical adjustment for purposes of extending or increasing the height of the plow when snow drifts are encountered during the operation of the plow, the invention being also adapted for attachment to a steam or electric car for clearing the track in advance of the car.
With the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described in connection with the accompanying drawings.

comprises opposite section walls `11 carrying angle brackets 12 at their lower ends for attachment to the guard 10 while the forward ends` of the walls 11 form the apex of the triangleas shown in Figs. 2 and 6. With the device thus positioned, during the i'orward travel of the car -8, snow is removed from the track `9 and equally distributed upon the opposite sides of the track as will at once be obvious.
`An extension wall 13 is positioned inwardly of each wall 11 and is maintained operatively positioned relative thereto by the headed pins 14 projecting inwardly from the walls 11 and extending through the vertical slots 15 inthe extension members 13, while the rear ends of the members 13 slide `in guide brackets 16 secured to the forward end of the car 8 as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 6. 'The forward ends of the extension members 13 are beveled as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 6 and form the apex of a triangle simi lar to the walls 11, the extension members substantially frictionally engaging the walls 11 during the sliding movement thereover.
In order to effect a vertical sliding movement of the extension members 13, the inner faces of said members at spaced points are provided with vertical rows of rack teeth 17 with which the pinions 18 fixed to the shaft 19 are in constant mesh, the shaft 19 being journaled in the upper ends of the brackets 2() that are suitably secured to the car 8 and guard 10 as shown in Fig. 2. The extension member 13 of each side wall 11 is independently operable and is adapted to have a wrench or other instrument engage the key end 19 of the desired shaft for rotation thereof to cause the pinions 18 to raise or lower the extension member 13. When it is desired to elevate the extension members 13, the shafts 19 are operated and the extension members guided in their vertical movements by the pin and slot connections14 and 15 between` the wall 11 and said members.
While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor `changes may be made `therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. g
What is claimed as new is l. A snow plow comprising forwardly converging side walls, a vertical extension member carried by each side wall with the adjacent faces flatlyY engaging each other, means for independently vertically shifting said extension members, said means including rack teeth formed on the inner faces of the extension members, pinions engaging said rackteeth, and means for rotating said pinions.
2. A snow plow comprising forwardly converging side walls, a vertical extension member carried by each side wall with the adjacent faces flatly engaging each other, means for independently vertically shifting said extension members, said means including perpendicular rack bars carried by the inner faces `of the extension members, brackets disposed inwardly of the extension members, pinions journaled in said brackets and engaging said rack bars, means for rotating said pinions, and pin and slot connections between said walls and extension members.
3. A snow plow comprising forwardly converging side walls, a vertical extension member carried by each side wall with thc adjacent faces flatly engaging each other, means for independently vertically shifting said extension members, said means including perpendicular rack bars carried by the inner faces of the extension members, brackets disposed inwardly of the extension members, pinions journaled in said brackets and engaging said rack bars, means for rotating said pinions, pin and slot connections between said walls and extension members, and grooved guiding devices for the rear perpendicular edges of said extension members.
