To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, RAMON CAMELL, chemist, of St. Rambert-llle-Barbe, Rhone, France, a citizen of the French Republic, LAURENT CooHn'r, manufacturer, of L on, F rance, a citizen of the French Repu 11c, and JOSEPH Gnrr'rn, manufacturer, of Lyon, France, a subject of the King of Belgium, have invented certain new and useful Imrovements in Apparatus for Heating by ilatalysis, of which the following is a specification.
y This invention relates to catalytic heating apparatus and is a division of application No. 299784 filed May 26th, 1919. It consists broadly in the provision of a small hand operated air pump for passing air through the apparatus whereby spirit vapor may be taken up by said air from the absorbent material in the reservoir and forced together with said air through a pipe, directed toward the catalytic mass, so as to provide means for initiating the action of the latter.

the handle m is raised, thus causing air to be drawn through the material 0 into the pump barrel. The handle is then depressed and this air is forced through the material 0 out through the pipe 8, carrying with it vapor of the spirit contained in b. This temporary" combustion is maintained for one or two minutes by giving a few pump strokes, and as soon as the catalytic mass is hot enough to insure the catalytic combustion, the pumping is discontinued' The catalytic, combustion then commences and continues until the spirit in the reservoir is exhausted.

What we claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:--
1. In acatalytic heating apparatus the combination of a catalytic pad, a reservoir, absorbent material in the latter, and a wick extending from said reservoir into proximity with the pad,-with a hand operatable pump connected to said reservoir and an air pi e from said reservoir directed toward tlie catalytic pad.
