WAITERLESS RESTAURANT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 6, 1921.
Application filed August 11, 1920. Serial No. 402,904.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES P..PAUL, a citizen of'the United States, residing at Texas City in the county of Galveston and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Waiterless Restaurant, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a waiterless restaurant.
One object of the invention is to provide a restaurant or dining room equipped With suitable tables and provided with electrically operated waiters through which the different tables are served.
Another object is to provide, in a restaurant or dining room, the combination with a table of an electrically operated waiter which is provided to operate in connection with said table and which is controlled by the guest being served and through the medium of which the order to be filled may be given and filled.
With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, operation and arrangement of parts, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view.
- Fig. 2 is a fragmentary internal view, and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of the electrically controlled waiter employed.
.Referring now more particularly to the drawings wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the 7 figures, the numeral 1 refers to a building or structure in which the restaurant is located. As shown, the building 1s provlded with a dlning room 2, a serving room 3 and a basement 4. Along the walls of the dining room suitable tables 5 are arranged, and opposite each table within the wall there is an elevator shaft 6, and in each shaft there is a small elevator or waiter 8 which is electrically operated in the well known manner of the electric elevator. Each elevator is controlled by means of a suitable push button 9, in the well known manner, said push hutton being located conveniently with respect to the tables 5. Each waiter 8 may be provided with an electric heater coil 10, provided to keep the food warm and may be equipped with one or more shelves as 11 for serving purposes.
In operation the customer fills out his order and places the same in the waiter 8 and then by pushing the button 9, sends said waiter 8 to the serving room where his order is filled and returned to him. The waiters are returned through the instrumentality of suitable electric push buttons 12. located in the serving room.
hat I claim is In combination, a dining room, a serving room, tables arranged in said dining room adjacent the walls thereof, elevator shafts arranged within the walls adjacent the respective tables and continuing to said serving room, waiters movable in said respective shafts, between the tables and serving room, and means for controlling the movements of said waiters.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
