Description
A. T. WALDRUN.
Combined Socks and Check-Valves.
Patented May 13; 1873 AM, PHUTO-LIWIOGRAPHIC c0. MX( mule/v51? mum) UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
ASA T. WALDRON, OF WATERFORD, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED STOP-COCKS AND CHECK-VALVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,963, dated May 13, 1 873 application filed January 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ASA T. VVALDRON, of Waterford, in the county of Saratoga and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combined Cock and Check-Valve, of which the following is a specification My invention consists of a combined stopcock and check-valve, in which the waterway of the hollow cock is divided by a partition with a hole through it, and a valve-seat on the upper side, with a stem extending up into a hollow removable cap on the top of the cock, and having a coiled spring for closing it down onthe seat, the partition being above the inlet-port, so that the check-valve prevents back flow. The construction is such that the cheek-valve can be readily taken out at any time by removing the cap on the top of the cock to clean out sand and other matters collecting in the plug.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved stop-cock and checkvalve, taken on the line 00 a of Fig. 1, and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the plug, which is made hollow and open at the top, with a partition, B, dividing the inlet-passage 0 from the outlet-passage D, in which partition is a water-passage and The construction is very simple and'cheap,
as will be readily observed.
Having thus described my invention, I'claim as newand desire to secure by Letters Patent- The plug A, having partition, water-passage, and valve-seat, the spring Gr, valve F, and the socket H, constructed, arranged, and applied together in the shell, as and for the purpose set forth.
ASA T. WALDRON.
I Witnesses:
OoRNELIUs A. WALDRON, PETER L. WALDRoN.
