TOY.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug. 23,1921.
Application filed December 21, 1920. Serial No. 432,246.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER CHoINsKI, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Milwaukee, in the c0unty of Milwaukee and State of Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in toys, and its principal object is to provide a toy which will serve to interest and amuse young children, and one which will at the same time be quite inexpensive.
A more specific object of the invention is to provide a toy which represents two cocks facing each other, and which is provided with means which may be manipulated so as to cause the cocks to go through the movements which are characteristic of such fowls while in the act of. fighting.
In describing my invention reference will be had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the device,
Fig. 2 is an end elevation, and
Fig. 3 is a view showing a modification of one of the fowls.
Similar reference characters designatesimilar parts in each view. V
The numeral 10 designates a block which may be of any preferred shape; in the present instance it being shown as oblong and square in cross section. Extending from one end of: this block are the resilient wires 11 and 12, which are twisted together adjacent the block as shown at 13 and diverge therefrom for certain distance. Thewires are then bent toward each other and twisted together as at 14, the outer ends being bent as shown at 15 and 16, the outer end 15 of the wire 11 being substantially in alinement with the inner portion of the wire 12, and in like manner the outer portion 16 of the wire 12 being in substantial alinement with the inner portion of the wire 11.
To the outer ends of the portions 15 and 16 are attached the images of the cooks 17 and 18 respectively. The image of each cock is provided with feet formed from two wires 19 and 20 twisted together as at 21, one of the wires being extended upwardly in the form of a coil spring 22 and attached to the body of the cock.
In Fig. 3, I have shown a modified structure wherein the wings are hinged at 23 and the tail is hinged at 24:, so that as the cock dances up and down,. his wings will flap and his tail move up and down.
The device as shown and described is merely illustrative, and it will be understood that my invention comprises all themodifications which may fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A device of the character described, comprising a block, two resilient members extending from one end of the block in divergent relation, the intermediate portions of said members crossing and each extending outwardly from the point of crossing substantially in alinement with the inner portion of the other member, said members being twisted together at the point of crossing, and fighting images attached to the outer ends of said members.
2. A toy representing two fighting cocks comprising a block, two resilient members extending from one end of said block in diverging relation for a certain distance, thence extending toward and past each other and twisted together, eachmember extending outwardly from the twist substantially in alinement with the inner portion of the other member, and images of fighting cocks fixed to the outer ends oi'the members, whereby a vibratory pressure on the inner portions of the members will cause the cocks to make motions toward each other, and an oscillatory movement of the block will cause them to jump up and down.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin.
