STRAP ATTACHMENT FOR BRUSHES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed. March 16, 1921. Serial No. 452,855.
Troy, in the county of Rensselaer andState of New York, and ew York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Strap Attachments for Brushes, of which the following is a specification. V
This invention relates to brushing and scrubbing, and has particular reference to means for detachably securing a handle or strap to the back of a brush.
I Among the objects of the invention is to provide a means for attaching a strap or handle to the back of a bath brush or -its equivalent, enabling the strap to be readily adjusted as to length whereby it may be made to fit any size'of hand. I
Another object of the invention is to pro vide for a bath brush, a strap attachment adapting the strap to be used by one who desires a strap on the brush or to be disconnected for the use of the brush by one who does not like a strap.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a strap attachment through which the strap or handle may be readily attached to the brushgat any time after the brush is finished.
Yet another object is to not only simplify and cheapen the strap mechanism, but also to generally improve the same along the lines of neatness of appearance and facility of adjustment. I
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed, and while the invention is not restricted to the exact details of construction disclosed or suggested herein, still for the purpose of illustrating a practical embodiment thereof reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which like reference characters designate the same parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of a brush with the invention shown applied.
Fig. 2 is an end View of the same.
Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional detail on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. at is a detail perspective view of one of the clips detached.
Referring now more specifically to the drawings A-is the back of a brush B of any sultable size, design, construction orv purpose, but as indicated the brush is one designed for bath purposes and whose back A is made of laminated water proof material, the several layers "being independently of the brush, or a new strap made of, any convenient flexible materlal and attached readily to they may be provided brush when required. Y The attachment means consists of a pair of clips 11 preferably of metal or' of any other suitable stiff strong material.
Each strip is stamped or otherwise con veniently formed from sheet material such as a non-corrodible three main parts as follows,a side panel 12, and upper andlower flanges 13 and 14, both integral with the" side panel and extending thence in the same direction parallel to each other and at right angles to said panel.
. :The side-panel 12 isprovided with a pair ofslots 15 extending parallel to theflanges. The end of the strap is threaded inward through the lower slot, thence outward through the upepr slot, and passes thence upward over the upper flange and is gripped and so held at any desired length by the action of the main or loop portion of the strap in practice. Any tension or pull upon the loop of the strap is exerted upward or perpendicular to the uper surface of the back and so it is impossible for either end of the stnp to slip along the slots or clip while the brush is in use. The length of the strap, however, may be varied when desired by simply pulling lengthwise on either portion of the strap according to Whether the strap is to be lengthened or shortened in effect, and this adjustment may be effected without disconnecting the clip from the brush although naturally it is performed somewhat easier when the clips are detached.
Any suitable means may be provided to secure the clips detachably to the brush back A. To this end each of the flanges 13 and 1 1 is provided with relatively sharp means Patented Aug a, roar."

We claim tachment of a strap to a consisting of against the edge of the brush back and ha v-' 1. The herein described clip for thezatbrush the same comprisinga single piece of sheet material a vertical side panel to lie close suitable flexible material,
