FRED A. HITE, OF NAPA, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR TO JOHN A. SAN BORN, OF OAKLAND,
CALIFORNIA;
BOTTLE ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 2, 1921.
Application filed August 6, 1917. Serial No. 184,610.
T0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, FRED A. Hrrn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Napa, county of Napa, State of California, have invented anew and useful Bottle Attachment, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to means for removably securing a brush to a bottle.
An object of the invention is to provide simple and inexpensive means for removably securing a. brush to a bottle.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a bottle showing the application of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the bottle shown in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a cross section of a bottle showing a modified form of attachment.
My invention is particularly applicable to bottles adapted to contain liquids or semiliquids, which are applied with a brush or swab, such as iodin, corn paint and similar materials. In accordance with my invention I removably secure the brush 2 to the bottle 3 by a sheet l of flexible material pasted to the side of the bottle and overlying the handle 5 of the brush. The sheet a is preferably a paper label which identifies the contents of the bottle. By placing the brush against the side of the bottle and then applying the label, the label forms a pocket 6 around the handle of the brush and the brush may be removed from the pocket by pulling it upward, and, after being used, may again he slipped into the pocket. This insures the presence of the brush when it is desirable to use the material in the bottle.
lVhe'n desirable, the brush pocket may be reinforced by a lining 7 of paper board or other comparable material. The reinforcing lining is preferably bent into U-shape and may be adhesively attached to the bottle along its edges or may be held in place entirely by adhesion to the label.
Iclaim:
The combination with a bottle, of a sheet of material adhesively secured thereto and forming with the side thereof a pocket, and alining in said pocket in which the handle of a brush may be disposed.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand at Oakland, California, this 21st day of July, 1917.
FRED A. HITE.
