Referring to the drawings, 4 designates a comb including an elongated longitudinally curved back 5, from the lower longitudinal edge of which a plurality of teeth 6 project. The back 5 is curved to conform to the contour of the-head of the wearer and is relatively broad. The ends of the comb are provided with bosses '6. ous sizes to accommodate the various styles of hair dressing. Projecting transversely of the back at each end thereof is a pin 7, the ends of the pin projecting beyond the upper and lower er ges of the back to provide trunnions 8, the purpose of which will be hereinafter described.

In order to permit the device to be used in the formation of the various hair rolls of hair dressing, there is provided a hair holding member consisting of a rod 9 slightly shorter than the length of the back '6 and substantially round in cross section.

The ends 10 of the rod are flattened and provided with elongated or oblong openings 11. The rod 9 is adapted to engage the convex side of the back 5 and is supported by pins 12 which extend laterally of the backedjaeent the pin 7, the ends'of the pins 12 projecting beyond the convex side of the back and are adapted to be disposed in the openings'l]. The rod may be made of any desired material such as celluloid or rubber having); a certain amount of resiliency. The rod 9 is also provided with a plurality of spaced. hair retaining hooks 19f;

15 and 16 are intended to receive the trunnions S of the pin 7, the clasp being constructed of resilient material so that the tongue 18 serves as a spring to retain the catch in its locked po sition, one catch being provided for each end of the comb.

In the use of the device the comb is positioned in the hair of the wearer, according to the style of hair dress desired. A portion of the hair is then passed over the hack of the comb and the rod 9 positioned. on the pins 12 so as to hold the hair between the back of the comb and the rod. The clasps 13 are then extended over and into engagement with the ends 10 of the red, the finger 17 engaging the end of the pins 12, while the tongues 18 engage the bosses 6 to prevent accidental movement of the clasps. By this novel arrangement the clasp does not frict-ionally engage the rod but holds it in engagement. with the pin so that if desired the rod 9 may move longitudinally with reelongated openings ll'so as to permit the Qtional bob, circular 'POIIIPEIClOUl, ear pufis rod to adjust itself to the quantity of hair disposed between the comb and the rod. hooks 12 carried by the rod hold the hair -in the proper position so that the; hairis equally distributed alongthe entire length of the comb. There is no-danger of the hair becoming tangled, as it is not necessary to thread the hair at any time through any portion of the comb. To remove the device it is only necessary to release the clasps 13 so as to permit the linger 17 to swing outwardly whereupon the rod 9 may be disengaged from the pins 12 and the comb readily removed from the hair.

From the foregoing it Will be readily seen that this invention provides a .novel hair dressing device adapted to be used in the various forms of hair dressing and capable of forming cluster rolls, French rolls, na-

2. A hair dressing device-comprising an elongated comb, a member detachably connected to the comb, and fastening means carried by, the comb, said meaiis preventing disengagement and permitting relative movement of said member on the comb.
