' Patented July 5, 1921;
Application filed December 8, 1920. Serial No. 429,191.
To all whom it may concern: Y
Be it known that I, ABNER LEIGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at.
Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Floor-Cleaning Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains, to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful provements in scrubbing devices and particularly to floor cleaning devices.
One object of the invention is to provide a device of this character whereby the scrub-- bine scrubber and mop.
Fig; 2 is a side elevation of the same.
, Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the-device.
i Fig.- 4 is a rear elevation of the device.
Referring rticularl to'the accompanydrawingy thei'e is Zhown an elongated to the center of the back'ofv which is secure d'one end of a ,handlfifiih TIL; gmg es. rearwardly I clam frame 18 m which is held a mop 14,-tli
' imately .iing I ng Q e'said'frame be' of al ha proxettual to that f the 1di- Secured'to t e clam frame 13, and extend- St. Louis, in the county of St. Louis City, State of Other objects and advantages will be apthe brush end may 0 thebrushisashaft 15, floor engagin supportin wheels 16. being carried by the finds of the s aid axle.
. Connected to the handle 11, and extending to the ends of the clamping frame 13, are the'braces 17. I
Mounted on the handle is a receptacle 18 which is adapted to contain water, and extending from the forward lower end of this receptacle is a pipe 19 which terminates among the bristles of the brush for supplying water to the brush, as the device is moved back and forth over the floor, In the lower end of the receptacle is mounted 'a spring pressed valve 20 which prevents escape .of water until unseated by the upwardly extendlng rod 21 which is secured to. the valve 20, and has a handle 22 at its upper end, near the upper end of the handle 11, within convenient reach of the operator who holds the handle while moving the device across the floor. j
In the scrubbing operation the'mop is, held out of contact with the floor by reason of the fact that it is somewhat higher on the handle than the brush, and when themop is to be usedthe handle is moved" downwardly until the mo touchesthe floor, when lifted fromthefloor. 7 Thus, by means of a single device, and without moving from a standin position, thwerator can scrub and wipe dry a floor.
