and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hat- Racks and Boat-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in hat. racks and coat holders, which are adapted to hold the hat in a 100p of wire through which the crown of the hat is passed, and also to providea hook which serves as a support on which a coat or other garment may be hung; and my improvements are directed particularl to means whereby a simple device combining both these advanta es may be formed from a single piece '0 wire which is doubled and twisted upon itself as hereinafter explained, so as to secure the results desired, details of the improvements being hereinafter particularly pointed out and claimed.

In the drawings, Figure 1, is a perspective view of my improved device, showing the outline of a hat in broken lines as being held therein; Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, showingitattached' to a section of a wall or other backing; and Fig. 3 is a plan View of the article.

The same parts are designated by similar reference numerals in all the figures.

The rack is formed of a single piece of wire,.which is first bent so as to constitute a loop, 1, which is adapted to receive the crown of a hat, as shown in the drawing.

The wire is then twisted upon itself and bent down, as at 2, and then laterally as at 3, so as to make the loop stand ofi from the backing to which the device may be secured, thereby allowing space for the him of a hat to hangv free between the loop and the back- 1 without touchin the latter.

I have illustrated and describeda preferred form of no 'im roved hat rack'and coat holder, but wis it to be distinctly understood that the details of its construction might be modified, as by the use of mechanical equivalents, from the spirit of my invention as c aimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent'of theUnited States, is

1. A hat rack .and coat holder formed of a single piece of wire, having a horizontally disposed, closed loop f adapted, to surround the crown'of "a hat, a four ply, untwisted without de arting hook, a two ply, offset and twisted lo0pshank extending from said loop to said hook, a two ply, twisted, back section ex- 1 tending away from said hook, and free ends with fastener receiving means.

2. 'A hat rack and coat holder formed of l a single piece of wire, having a, horizontally disposed, closed loop adapted to surround the crown of a hat, a four ply, untwisted hook formed of parallel strands, a two ply,
