Application filed February 11, 1921.
To all whom it my concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK L. ADRIAN, a citizen of the United States,residing at Mattoon, in the county of Coles and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Engine-Piston, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to piston constructions, the object of the invention being to provide novel means for insuring against lateral wear of the piston or cylinder walls in which the piston operates, thereby eliminating what is commonly known in general practice, as piston slap.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts andin the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates a cylinder in which is mounted the piston 6, which piston is provided with the usual piston rings 7 for providing a close fit between the plston and wall of the cylinder.

ecured to the inner wall of the cylinder adjacent to the lower end thereof, are the spaced bars 10, the space between the bars 10 being such as to accommodate the block 9 associated therewith, thereby providing a guide for the arms 8 to eliminate any possibility of the piston moving laterally within its cylinders.
From the foregoing it is obvious that as the piston 6 moves longitudinally of its cylinder, the arms are guided in their guideways to the end that the piston is held in alinement with the wall of the cylinder at all times.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is 1. In a device of the character described, a cylinder having spaced bars arranged in pairs and secured to the inner wall thereof,

In a device of the character described, a cylinder, pairs of bars disposed within the cylinder, a piston operating in the cvlinder, arms having connection with the piston, each of said arms carrying a block, said'blocks adapted to move between the bars for guiding the piston, and said bars being secured to the walls of the cylinder.
