Tlhis invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in buckles, and pertains more especially to a bucl'cle formed of two separable parts, each part being attached in a fixed position on the respective belt ends and having means for remorably connecting the parts, whereby the belt maintains a given adjustment and can be removed and applied by simply disconnecting the parts, distingu.'="hed from the plGYlllllIlg custom oil adjusting the belt with respect to the buckle each time the belt is applied in position.

In proceeding in accordance with the. present invention a front member or part 1 is provided which has top and bottom flanges 2 and 3 that are rolled inwardly at at to provide longitudinal flanges or abutments. A U-shaped plate 5 has its tree edges engaged with the rear face of the front of member 1. and has its back engaged by the abutment land held against outward movementthereby, the ends of the flanges 2 and 3 being curled or bent inwardly at 6 to hold the back plate 5 against longitudinal movement relative to the part 1. The back plate 5 is equipped with a suitable screw clamp 7 by means of which one end of the belt B may be 12321. Serial No. 453,567.

The male member is composed of a plate 5 having a loop 10 through which the opposite end of the belt B is permanently secured. The plate 9 forms the male member and has longitudinal edges 11 formed by curling its top and bottom parts, which edges are adapt ed to engage between and frictionally with the abutments l 0:": the female member. The plate 9 has an aperture 12 through which the finger grip or thumb piece of the screw clamp 7 extends and is further formed with a female member 8 to receive the male member 8 of the snap fastener.
It will now be seen that one end of the belt is permanently attached to the loop 10, oil' the male member 9, following which the opposite end of the belt is adjust-ed as to the diameter or circumference of the belt, with respect to the wearer, and is-reccived between the bacl: plate 5 and the front plate 1 oi the female member and then rigidly secured to the female member by screwing down on the clamp 7. The interengaging parts land 11 of the female and male members respectively when brought into the relation of Fig. 3 will hold such members against all lateral movement, and the single.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a belt buckle. a female member composed of two telescoped parts of U-shape in cross section to form spaced front and back plates, the free longitudinal edges of the front plate being rolled inwardly over the back plate to hold the latter in position and to form a female member, adjustable belt engaging means borne by the back plate, a male member having curled longitudinal edges received by the female member and having its said edges engaged with and between the curled edges of the female memher, means to secure the opposite end of the belt to the male member, and a snap fastener having its respective parts secured to the male and female members.
2. In a belt buckle, a female member composed of spaced plates, means to secure one end of the belt between said plates, said female member having top and bottom longitudinal abutment-s, a male member, means to secure the opposite end of the belt to the male member, said male member having top and bottom parts engageable with the top and bottom parts of the male member, and a single snap fastener between said members.
In a belt buckle, a female member having means to secure one end of a belt thereto, a male member conforming to and receivable in the female member in close superimposed engagement therewith and having means to secure the opposite end of the belt thereto, a single snap fastener between the members, and means to hold the members against relative turning about said snap fastener.

In a belt buckle, a female member having top and bottom flanges, means to secure one end of the belt to said member, a male member having top and bottom flanges received between and frictionally engaged with the flanges of the female member, means to secure the opposite end of the belt to the male member, and a single snap fastener between said members.
5. In a belt fastener, a member having curled longitudinal flanges, a member having curled longitudinal flanges received between and engaged with the flanges of the first member, a single snap fastener between the members, andmeans to secure the ends of the belt to the respective members.
6. In a belt fastener, a pair of approximately similar members one of which has means to secure one end of a belt thereto, and having opposed spaced projecting parts, the other member having means to secure the opposite end of the belt thereto, and a separable fastener between the members to hold same tightly in superimposed relation, said second member having parts engaged with the projecting parts of the first member to hold themembers against turning about said separable fastener.
