To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, STEFAN WoJoiK, a citizen of Poland, residing at Detroit, in the county of ll ayne and State of Michigan,

have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cue-Tip Clamps, of which the following is 'a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in cue tip clamps and has particular reference to a clam) having a resiliency mounted head and a apted to engage a cue tip in axial alinement with the cue stick for holding the same in proper position during the cementing operation.

With the "above and other objects in view that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described,shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

' Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing, there is illustrated a cue stick 1 having a rubber or leather tip 2 secured to the outer end thereof.

' The clamp provided for holding the tip 2 in intimate contact with the stick 1 during cementing operation embodies a longitudinally split tubular clamp body 3 carrying a collar 4 adjacent the inner end thereof provided with opposed ears 5 through which a tightening screw 6 is threaded for holding the tubular clamp 3 in position on the stick 1. The opposite sides of the tubular clamp body 3 carry laterally projecting apertured lugs 7 adjacent the outer end. thereof through which lugs the rods 8 are slidably mounted. A coil spring 9 surrounds each rod inwardly of the lugs 7 the springs at their outer ends engaging the lugs and confined at their inner ends by plates 10 carrled by said rods, the inner faces of the plates being curved as at 11 coincident to the curvature of the tubular clamp 3, thereby holding the rods against rotation and permitting free sliding movement thereof. A head 12 carrying a finger ring 13 is provided with a. concaved plate 1a having lateral ears 15 to which the outer ends of the rods 8 are secured.

In the operation of the device, the tubular clamp 3 is secured in the desired position on the one stick 1 by the clamping screw 6. The head 12 is moved outwardly by gripping the finger ring 13 to provide sufiicient space between the concaved plate 14 and the outer end of the one stick for correctly positioning the cue tip 2 on the stick, the adjacent faces of the stick and cue being supplied with green glue or other cementitious material. The concaved plate 14. carrying the rods 8 being moved outwardly against the tension of the springs 9, release of pulling pressure on the head 12 will cause the arms 8 to move inwardly under influence of the springs 9 with the concaved plate 14L pressing the one tip 2 into intimate engagement with the end of the cue stick. The stick and clamp are allowed to remain in this position until the cementing material is thoroughly dried, at which time the release of the tightening screw 6 will permit the clamp to be removed from the stick with the outer end of the stick and tip finished in the usual manner.

While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new is 1. A cue tip clamp of the type described comprising a tubular clamping body, a clamp screw carried by the inner end thereof, opposite apertured lugs carried by the tubular clamping body adjacent the outer end, tensioned rods slidably mounted in the apertured lugs, and a one tip pressing plate carried by the outer ends of said rods.
