To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, REX HARRIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ocean Beach, in the county of San Diego and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in WVavedi lotors, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to wave motors more particularly to machines for producing power from the action of the breakers along the shores of the ocean or sea and the primary object of my invention is improvements over my application for patent for wave motor filed in the United States Patent Oflice February 4, 1920, Serial No. 365,160 and the objects of said improvements are: first, to provide a wave motor of this class in which the car will be more readily maintained in position on the track; second, to provide a new and novel track structure for the car; third, to provide a car of this class which is provided with water tight air cells forming air spaces tending to more easily float the car so that the one end will rise or be maintained in a raised position on the track; fourth, to provide a wave motor of this class which is new and novel of construction and fifth, to provide a wave motor of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, durable, easy to install and operate and which will not readily deteriorate or'get out of order.
With these and other objects in View as will appear hereinafter my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claims reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon which form a part of this application in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of my track with a car positioned thereon ready for operation; Fig. 2 is a top or plan View thereof; Fig. 8 is a sectional view through 3-3 of Fig. 1 on an enlarged scale; Fig. 4 is a side elevational View of a fragmentary portion of the track with the car in position thereon, on an enlarged scale, and Fig. 5 is a sectional view on an enlarged scale through 5--5 of Fig. 2.

3, .car 4:, cable 5, sheave 6, drum 7, ties 8, sheave 9 and journals 1O constitute the principal parts and portions of my wave motor.
The ties 8 are positioned in a row on an incline extending toward the sea inspaced relation and form the base for the track and secured to these ties are the T rails 1 and 2 spaced a suitable distance apart and intermediate these rails land 2 is another T rail 3 and supported on these rails 1, 2 and 8 is the car 4: which consists of a frame upon which aremounted the side rollers 4 which are adapted to roll on the track members 1 and 2 for supporting the car and this frame is provided with downwardly extending longitudinal beams 4 which extend downwardly between the rails 1 and 3 and 2 and 3. These beams 43 are provided with vertical rollers 4 and with horizontal rollers 4 positioned in spaced relation on said beams and positioned so that the vertical rollers 4 engage the upper flange of the T rail 3 and the rollers 4n engage the web portion of the T member 3, the rollers 4 preventing the car from shifting side-wise and the rollers 4 preventing it from rising relatively to the track while the rollers e support it in position as it rolls on the tracks 1 and 2. This car 4 is con structed in such a manner that it extends some distance along the track and is provided near its front end with a plurality of air and water tight cells 45* tending to adjust the weight of the front end of the car by having them filled with air or water as desired. This car f is also provided with extended side members 4 which are braced and provide a large surface for the water to engage. Secured to the front and back sides of the car is the cable 5 which extends over the sheave 6 and several times around the drum 7 and is connected to the car at opposite ends so that when the car moves in either direction on the track the drum 7 will be revolved on the shaft 7 which is journaled in the bearings 10 and there is provided aratchet wheel 7 secured to said shaft 7 and the ratchet pawls 7 engage said ratchet wheel for turning the shaft 7* in one direction which in turn will revolve the sheave 9 which may be connected with any driven or power mechanism.
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions I do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement but desire to include in the purview of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.
It is obvious that with this construction there is provided a wave motor in which a floating car is positioned on an inclined track and with horizontally and vertically positioned wheels adapted to engage a central trackfor holding it in position on said track and with rollers for supporting it in such position thus reducing the friction and that the car is provided with air tight cells adapted to be filled with air or water for adjusting the weight of the car.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: V
1. A wave motor, including a pair of inclined, supporting rails, an intermediate T rail intermediate said supporting rails, a car provided with longitudinal beams extending downwardly between said tracks, a plurality of vertically and horizontally disposed rollers positioned on said beams adapted to engage the upper flange of said T rail and the web portion of said T rail for holding said car in a certain position relatively to sald T rail.
- 2. A wave motor, ineludlng a pair of 1nclined, supporting rails, an intermediate T rail intermediate said supporting rails, a car provided with longitudinal beams extending downwardly between said tracks, a plurality of vertically and horizontally disposed rollers positioned on said beams adapted to engage the upper flange of said T rail and the web portion of said T rail for holding said car in a certain position relatively to said T rail and a plurality of water tight cells positioned on said car near the normally lower-end thereof.

A wave motor, including a pair of inclined, supporting rails, an intermediate T rail intermediate said supporting rails, a car provided with longitudinal beams extending downwardly between said tracks, a plurality of vertically and horizontally disposed rollers positioned on said beams adapted to engage the upper flange of said T rail and the web portion of said T rail for holding said car in a certain position relatively toi'said T rail, a cable secured to the front and back sides of the said car, a sheave atone end of said track over which said cable is mounted, a drum at the other end of said track upon which the'said cable is mounted, a sheave in connection with said drum and ratchet and pawl means connecting said drum with said sheave.
4. A wave motor, including a pair of inclined, supporting'rails, an intermediate T rail intermediate said supporting rails, a car provided with longitudinal beams extending downwardly between said tracks, a plurality of vertically and horizontally disposed rollers positioned on said beams adapted to engage the upper flange of said T rail and the web portion of said T rail for holding said car in a certain position relatively to said T rail, a plurality of water tight cells positioned on said car near the normally lower end thereof, a cable secured to the front and back sides of the sai'd car,-
