Be it knownthat I,-J0HN TOMASZEWSKI, a citizen of Poland, residing at Taunton, county of Bristol, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Keyhole-Guards, of which the following is a specification).
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in looks and more particularly toimprovements in the keyhole guards for door locks. Y 1 a I It is the main object of the invention to provide key-hole Y guards which normally close the key-hole and prevent the insertion of the key by persons not in possession of the secret of removing the guard from the key-hole. g
Another object of the present invention is the provision of a movable key-hole guard for locks which can be conveniently "returned into its normal key-hole closing position after each operation of the lock.
With the above and other objects in view, the present invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and appended claims.

In carryingout my invention, I provide an ordinary door lock 10 provided with the latch 11 operated by knobs 12 and 13 and locking member 14 in the'casing 15 which is set in a door and secured therein by means of screws 16 and 17 passed through the end plate 18 of the casing. All of the parts described so far do not form any part of the present invention.
To both sides of a door two plates 19 and 20 respectively are secured by means of screws passed through holes 21 in said plates.

If however by a suitable tool as for instance the pin point or projection 36 of the key 37 the engagement between the pin 33 of the spring, 3 1 and the hole 32 in the plate 26 is interrupted by pressing the spring 34 backward, the plate 26 is drawn upward by the spring 38 secured with one end to the inner face of theplate 19 and with its otherend to the inner face of the plate 26, and the key-hole is open for the insertion of the key to operate the look. When it is desired to close the key-hole again, the projection 36 of the key 37 is inserted into hole 39 of the plate 26 which at downwardwith its hole 32 into engagement with the pin 33 of the spring 34.

Having thusdescribed my invention, what I claim is t 1. A key-hole guard ofthe character described comprising a plat'e'aidapted to be secured to a door .over a lock in spaced relation to said door and having a key-hole, a sliding lockingplate on the rear faceof said first named plate provided with a plurality of perforations, means for guiding said locking plate during its operation, a leaf spring secured to said plate, a pin on said spring adapted to engage in one of the perforations of said locking plate, means for interrupting the engagement between said pin and said locking plate, and means for returning said locking plate into its locking posialeaf spring secured to said plate, a pin on said spring adapted to normally engage one of the perforations of said locking plate, and adapted to be disengaged from said perforation b a tool inserted through another of the perforations of said locking plate, and means for returning said locking plate into its locking position after each operation of the lock.
