Description

0. W. BROCK.
Sawing-Machines.
Patented April I5, 1873.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ORLANDO W. BROOK, OF ETNA, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT In eAwiNe-MAcHmEs.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,758, dated April 15, 1873; application filed March 3, 1873.
' similar class, together with such parts thereof as are claimed as new and are desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States.
My invention relates to that class of mechanism which is made use of for working saws, and the nature thereof consists incertain improvements in the details of the construction of the same, as Ahereinafter shown and described.
In the accompanying drawing, which illustrates my invention and forms a part of the specification thereof, Figure 1 is a lateral elevation of the machine. Fig. 2 is a lateral elevation of the side opposite to that shown in Fig. l.
The construction and operation of my mechanism are as follows: The saw A is secured to the horizontal bar B, which is pivoted to the hanging bars O O. The bar O is hinged to the'rear of the frame D, and connected, by
means of the connectin g-rod E, to the balance `wheel F. The bar O is pivoted to one end of the upper horizontal bars H, which are hinged to the frame D. The said bars H are provided with a recess, h, for the reception of such a sized weight as may be required to cause the saw to cut properly. The machine is worked by the lever K, pivoted to the upright rod L, secured by means of a screw-nut to the spring M, in such a manner as to be vertically adjustable. The said lever is connected by means of the pivoted straps N N to the cross-bar O, which is secured to the rocking-bar P. The said rocking-bar is connected by means of the post R and connecting-rod S with the gearwheel T, which engages with la pinion upon the balance-wheel F.`
Having described my invention, I claiml. The combination of saw-bars C, C', B, and H, connecting-rod E, and balance-wheel F, all operating together, as described.
2. The combination of lever K, rod L, straps N N, cross-bar O, rocking-bar P, post R, connecting-rod S, and gear T, as and for the purposes described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I l
have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of December, 1872.
