l 3e it known that LHANs G. HANSEN, a cltlzen of the .UnitedgStates, residing at Richmond-Beach, in the county of King and:
State of Washington, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Milk- 1 Cans, of which the following isaspecification.
My invention relates to metal'can's and relates more particularly to the type of cans used for the transportation and storing of milk and the object of my invention is to provide a milk can wherein the seams are formed in such a manner that milk or dirt may not lodge or collect therein thus avoiding the formation of any bacteria therein.
A further object is to provide a milk can so constructed that when disfigured will not breakat the seams. A still further object is to provide a milk can that is adaptable to withstand the hard usage given the same,
that is uniformly strong. throughout, that embodies simplicity, durability and'economy in weight and construction and that may be easily cleaned after use.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination, adaptation and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

Disposed within the annular groove 20 of the neck ring 9 is the lower end of the neck or bowl 10 which end is fixedly secured therein by the solder 22.
The upper portion of the neck 10 is adapted to flare outwardly in a well known manner and is provided on its upper outer rolled edge with a reinforcing wire ring 23.
The hand holds 11 are fixedly secured to the upper section 8 by rivets 24.
I have also provided a dished cover 25 of well known form that is adapted to seat within the neck 10,'which cover is provided with a hand hold 26. a It will be clear from the foregoing descriptiontaken in connection with the accompanying drawings that the construction described and disclosed providesa perfectly smooth interior surface within the can thus eliminating crevices wherein dirt milk or any foreign substance may lodge which ordinarily is the cause of the formation of bacteria.
This construction also permits of a thorough sterilization of the can after its contents have been disposed of. It will also be obvious that should the can be disfigured adjacent the seams or joints of the elements comprising the same, the said seams or joints will not spread or spring thereby causing a leakage as frequently occurs in milk cans having riveted joints. a
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying draw ings, the advantages of the construction and of the method of operation will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art to which the inventionrelates, and while I have described the principle of operation of the I invention, together with the device which I a now consider to be the best embodiment thereof, I desire to have it understoodthat the device shown is merely illustrative and that such changes may be made when -desired as are within the scope of the invention. r 7 1 What I claim is: In amilk can comprising a concavo-consaid lower annular groove being adapted to :yreceive the upper end of the said body section which is adapted to be fixedly secured therein, a curved upper section having its to receivethe upper end of said curved upper section which is adapted to be fixedly secured therein, an upwardly flaring neck section having its lower end adapted to be fixedly secured within said upper groove formed in said neckhoop'and having its upper flared end rolled to form a peripheral channel, a reinforcing ring disposed in said channel, a closure for said can, a hand hold for said closure, and a plurality of hand holds fixedly secured to said upper curved section.
