sidin at Beverly, in the county of Essex and tate of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Nail-Transferring Mechanisms, of which the following descrip tion, in connection 'with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like reference characters on the drawings indicatinglike parts in the several figures.

An object of'the invention is to provide novel means to prevent the delivery of more than one charge of nails by the transfer mechanism between successive operations of V the nailing mechanism. I have chosen in the accompanying drawings to illustrate my inventi'onadapted for use in connection with a heel-attaching machine which may be arranged to drive nails in either of two directions, which is the subject of an application for Letters Patent of BenjaminF. The only essential difference between the two forms ofthe invention is the vertical relation of certain ofthe elements, especially those ofthe' heel and top lift holding mechanism. what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. In a machine of the class described, the combination with nailing mechanism, of mechanism for transferring nails to the nailing mechanism, a movable work-engagin'g membercooperating with the nailing mechanism, and means controlled by said member and arranged to limitv the moveferring travel.
