a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The present invention relates, generally, to improvements in powder-puffs for applying face powders and cosmetics to the skin of the user; and, the said invention has reference, more particularly, to a novel construction of powder-puff comprised of few parts which may be easily and quickly assembled together to providea very cheap, durable, and simple puff of attractive ap pearance. Y

The invention has for its principal object to provide a novel powder-puff construction requiring a minimum number of parts, which, by simple operations, may be easily and quickly assembled together, whereby the wool or velour facing of the puff is firmly secured and stretched without necessity of employing hand or machine stitching, stapling or other fasteningmeans or methods, other than the gripping and holding effect upon wool or velour facing provided by the novel construction of sup. porting form and cooperating back member.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel construction of supporting form and cooperating back adapted when assembled in normal relation to the wool or velour facing material to hold the latter properly stretched and formed with out necessity of providing internal stuiiing or padding material, and at the same time so shaping and holding said facing that no sharp corners or edges of any kind are pie sented by the facing of the pull or the supporting member thereof, which are likely to scratch or otherwise injure the skin of the user. v

V'Vith the various objects of the invention in view, the same consists, primarily, in the novel construction of powder-puff hereinafter set forth; and, the invention consists, furthermore, in the novel arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction of said parts, all of which will be more fully described in the'following specification, and then finally embodied in the claims appended hereto.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which':

Referring now to said drawings, the reference-character 1 indicates the complete powdenpuif made according to and embodying the principles of the present invention, the same comprising an annular supporting form or member 2, preferably constructed of thin metal suitably wrought into the novel shape and arrangement, whereby the upper edge ofthe same is inwardly curved or curled to provide a gripping bead or member 3. It will thus be understood from the above description, and from an inspection of the accompanying drawings, that the present invention provides a very simple and easily assembled construction of face powder-puff, which in its completed form is oi very neat and attractive appearance. The'facing material 11 being stretched over the open annular supporting form or member 2, has all the appearance of a generously padded puii, without requiring the use of stufiing or padding material necessitating considerable expense of time and labor in assembling.

Furthermore, since the operative face or portion of the facing material 11, is tautly stretched over a central opening of the sup porting form or member 2, the said operarive face is thus rendered more or less resilient, so as to provide a soft contact with the face of the user and the same time being readily capable of conforming itself to the sur ace of the users features at points thereof to which the pull is applied.

We are aware that some changes may made in the ar angements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as well in the details of the construction of the same, without departing from the scope of our present invention as set forth in the foregoing specification and as defined in the appended claims. Hence, we do not limit our invention to the exact arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts as described in said specifications, nor do we confine ourselves to the exact details of the construction of the said parts as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

l V e claim I 1. ln a device of the kind described, an annular supporting form having an inwardly projecting gripping bead its upper edge, a backing member provided at its periphery with anintegral depending skirt having an annular receiving socket formed therein, a facing member, said facing mem er extending across the lower side of said supporting form with its marginal portions folded upwardly around said supporting form andinwardly'over said gripping bead, and said backing member having the receivsocket of said skirt sprung over said gripping bead to clamp said marginal portions of the facing member between said gripping bead and said skirt.

2. In a device of the kind described, an annular supporting form presenting a downwardly and inwardly curved external face, an integral inwardly projecting gripping bead at the upper edge of said sup porting form, a facing member extending over said supporting form with its marginal portions turned inwardly over said gripping bead, a backing member, a downwardly and inwardly inclined portion skirting the periphery of'said backing member and said downwardly and inwardly inclined portion having an annularly indented receiving groove sprung over said p-ripping bead to clamp said facing member in secured relation to said supporting form.
