UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WATCH-MOVEMENT CASE.'-
4Specification of Letters Patent.
y Patented Apr. 19, 1921.
Application filed November 20, 192K).` 4Serial No. 425,352. e n
T 0 all whom 'it may cof/wem f Be it known that I, SrssAK K. OUzoUN- BoGHossrAN, a subject of the Sultan of Turlrey,1having declared my intention Aof becoming a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Washington, District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Watch-Movement Cases, of which the following 1s a speclcation.
Thisfinvention relates to improvements in watch-movement-cases, and more partlcularly, to the class which are adapted to be used as small bracket-clocks or desk-clocks.
The object of this invention is to provide a watch-movement case which'has the thickness or depth, size and shape of a small bracket-clock yor desk-clook-case, which watch-movement-case of the invention is a combination of several collapsible parts fitted together by screws, and is adapted to fit and have secured therein a stem-wind watchmovement, on which watch-movement-case of the invention are provided means to actuate the winding and-setting mechanism of the watch-movement, and inwhich watchmovement-case of the invention the watchmovement compartment of the case together with the winding means are removably secured to the front part of the watch-movement-case of the invention, so thata watchmovement of the same size and desired kind and quality, or a watch-movement fitted Ito a certain class of watch-case can be readily fitted and secured to the watch-movementcase of the invention at any time desired, and be used as a small bracket-clock or deskclock.
The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof andy in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the watch-movement-case of the invention, to which is fitted a stem-wind and stem-set watch-movement. Fig. 2 is a view in sectional side elevation of the watch-movementcase of the invention, being sectioned at the dotted-line 2-2 in Fig. 1, the collapsible front, middle and back parts of which are slightly separated from each other, and the sleeve, stem and .crown of which are removed therefrom. Fig. 3 is a sectional plan view of the watch-movement-case of the ina view insectional side elevation of another modication of the watch-movement-case of the invention, in which aV woodeny block is not used, and the three detachable parts are shownslightly separated from each other.
Similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the figures of the drawings.
Referring specifically to the drawings, in Fig. 1, the front and back metal parts 6 and 7 and 'the wooden middle part 24 are fitted together by a set of screws 10 at they front and back faces. A stem-wind watch-movement 27 is fitted tothe .front part 6, over which is screwedr and fittedthe bezel 1. The crown 11 and a stem-sleeve and a stem are fitted tothe case sleeve 12. Thek winding and; settingme'chanism of the watch-movement 27 is actuated by crown 11.
In Fig.,2, crystal 16 is fitted to bezel 1. The case 14 is removably fitted to the circular opening of the face-plate 6, over which casing 14 and to the flange 2O of the casing 14 is screwed and fittedy bezel 1, thus removably securing the' faceplate 6 between the casing 14 and bezel 1. The circular compartment 9 is adapted to have fitted and secured therein a watchmovement of the same size. `The flange 8 holds the watch movement from being dropped into the case, and the watch-movement is secured in the circular compartment 9 by two case screws of the watchmovement. The extending part 4 of the casing 14 fits into the cave 17, of the woodenblock 24, and the case-,sleeve 12 fits into the cave 25. The circular ring 18 of metal is removably fitted into the wooden-block 24. Over the circular opening 22 on the backplate 7 is fitted the back-cover 23. The watch compartment 9, circular compartment 19 and the opening 22 communicate.
In Fig. 3, the' crystal 16 is fitted tothe bezel l. The casing 14`is removably fitted into the circular opening of the face-plate 6, and the bezel 1 is screwed and fitted to The Watch-movement casing 14, on which is provided the case-sleeve 12, is removably secured on thetace-plate 6 by the screw-bezel 1 as shown in Fig. 3. The opening 15 is adapted to have fitted therein a sleeve and stem with a crown tted thereon, Which are adapted to actuate the Winding and settingV mechanism of the Watch movement fitted into the circular compartment 9. The circular compartment 9 is adapted to have fitted therein a Watch movement of the same size. The shoulder 8 holds the Watch-movement from being dropped into the case, and the usual case-screws resting on the Vedge 4 secure the Watch-movement in the case. The screw bezel 1 is tted on the screw threaded part 20. The back-cover 23 isiitted over the circular opening 22 and on the part 21. The opening 21 communicates with the Watch-movement compartment 9.
Having thus described the invention-What I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States and claim is:
1. A watch-movement-case adapted to have fitted and secured therein a stem-Wind and stem-set Watch-movement and therefore A set of screw bars 33 seto be used as a bracket-clock or desk-clock, said case comprising a front metal part, a middle Wooden part and aback metal part tted together by screws, said front-part comprising a face-plate removably secured between a watch-casing and a bezel with a crystal, said casing having provided thereon a case-sleeve having "fitted thereto a stemsleeve, a stem and crown adapted to actuate the Winding and setting mechanism of the Watch-movement fitted in said casing, said back part'comprising a back-plate with -a circular opening therein covered with a back-cover, said middle-block having therein a circular compartment fitted with a metal ring and communicating with said Watch-compartmentof said front-part and the circular opening of said back-part, all substantially as set forth.
2. In aWatch-movement-case of the character described, the combination of a frontpart with a detachable Watch-movement com.- partment, With a case-sleeve provided thereon, said front-part comprisinga front-plate,
with a circular opening, removably secured between a'Watch-movement casing and a bezel WithV a crystal, the back-part of said casing fitting in an indentation provided on the front part of a Wooden middle-block, the winding and setting mechanism of said Watch-movement being adapted to be actuated by a stem, sleeve and crown fitted to said case-sleeve of said watch-casing, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature.
