FOOD-BOILER.

Application filed June 11, 1918.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ROBERT PFAHL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Venturia, in the county of McIntosh and State of North Dakota, have invented new and useful improvements in Food-Boilers, of which the following is a specification.
|This invention comprehends generally iinprovements in boilers, and more particularly relates to a food-boiler.
The present invention has for its principal object to provide a device of the above mentioned character designed to bemovably mounted over the body of a heating stove for the boiling of food stuffs. i
More particularly the present invention embraces the provision of a device of the above mentioned character, the boiler body of which is an improved construction, being formed with a water jacket in the bottom thereof for containing water, which when heated produces a steam, while improved means are arranged within the body of a boiler for allowing the steam toenter the body of the boiler and act on the food-stuffs within the same for the cooking thereof.
As a further improvement this invention contemplates the provision of improved means for movably supporting the body of the boiler above the body of the stove yso that the boiler body may be tilted to either side for the emptying of the contents therefrom whendesired, while improved means are employed in conjunction with the boiler for removably retaining the same in a tilted position. Y
Among the other aims and objects of this invention may be recited the provision of a device of the character described with a view to compactness, and in which the number of parts are few, the construction simple and the cost of production low and the efficiency high. y
Other improvements and novel` details in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of the apparatus will be brought out more in detail in the `description to follow, which for a clear understanding of the invention should be considered in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, and wherein is disclosed for the purpose of illustration a convenient and satisfactory embodiment of the invention. It is to be noted in this connection that minor changes in the construc- Specfcaton of Letters Patent.

tion andl arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the principle of operation of the various parts.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which 1 Figure 1 is a side elevation thereof.
F ig. 2 isa front elevation ofthe invention.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section. of the invention, and Y Fig. 4f is a perspective detail.
Similar characters of reference are employedfin all of the above described views, to indicate corresponding parts. l
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawings there is provided a stove-body 1 of a cylindrical configuration embodying the bottom 2 and the side walls 3, the body kbeing open at the top for a purpose to presently appear. l A grate l is mounted in the body in spaced relation to the bottom forming a compartment 5 for receiving an ash-pan 6 which restson the bottom andwhich may be removed upon the Above the grate a fire-pot 8 is pro-vided while `access is had thereto through the provision of an yopening 9 in the side wall of the body and this opening is removably closedby ahinged door 10. A' draft-nue 11 projects from' the body near the upper edge thereof ywhile mounted above the open top of the stove is an improved food-boiler, indicated iii itsentirety by the numeral 12.
in the present instance this boiler consists of a cylindrical body composed of a main bottom 13 from which extends the cylindrisurfaces ofthe side walls in spaced relation to the main bottoni is a false bottom 15 which cooperates with the main bottom in providing a water chamber 16. A vertical perforated tube 17 'extends centrally from the false bottom 15 so that the steam produced upon the heating of the water in the chamber 16 may pass upwardly through the tube 17 and out through the perforations 33 into the interior of the upper part of the body which serves as a food-receiving compartment 18 and this steam which enters the compartment 18 serves to cook the foodstuffs therein. A cover 19 is removablydisposed on the upper edge of the body of the food-boiler 12.
In order to movably support the body of cal side walls 111 while connected to the inner the food-boiler above the body of the stove, opposed standards 20 are secured to the side wall 3 of the stove-body l and are formed at their upper ends with opposed recesses 2l in which are journaled trunnions 22 which are carried by and extended at opposite points fromthe body of the boiler l2 at points approximately medial of the upper and lower ends thereof but slightly nearer the upper end so as the lower portion of the food-boiler will act to maintain itself in a vertical posiion directly over the open top of the stove ody.
In order to removably lock the cover 19 on the upper edge of the boiler body 12, a clamp indicated'in its entirety by the numeral 28 is disposed transversely across the top of the cover and has its respective ends removably engageable with retaining hooks 24 carried at o posite points on the upper edge of the boi er body l2. Subsequent to the detaching of the clamp 23 a knob 25 on the cover may be engaged'to facilitate the removal thereof.
To tilt the boiler body toward either side for the emptying of the contents therefrom,
a handle26 is connected to the body and pro-l jects upwardly therefrom, and it is apparent that upon the engaging of this handle the body l2 may be rocked to either side owing -to the engagement of the trunnions in the recesses in the standards. A bail 27 has its Yrespective ends connected at opposite points Yis carried by the outer end of the chainV and is designed to be removably engaged on a stud 30 which projects from the boiler body 12 at a point directly above the point of connection of the chain and the adjacent trun* nion 22 when the boiler body is in either of its tilted positions and of course acts to maintain the boiler body in a substantial horizontal position when the contents is being emptied.
To allow some of the steam to escape fromy the food-containing.compartment when desired, an elbow-shaped outlet pipe 3l eX- of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent. 'Y
A food boiling apparatus embodying a cylindrical stove body having means' for carrying a fire therein, the said body being open at its upper end and formed at diametrically opposite points thereon with standards, a boiler corresponding inV shape to the stove portion and provided with trunnions on diametrically opposite sides which engage in recesses formed in the upper ends of said standards, the bottom of the boiler being disposed normally through the open top of the stove portion, a removable closurey for the upper end of the boiler, a tilting handle carried by the boiler at its upper end, and `a chain connected to one of the standards and carrying a hook at its free end engageable with a stud carried on one side of the boiler and above the plane ofthe aforesaid stud,
whereby the boiler 'may be shifted into, an r position for the purpose herein
