To all whom it may concern:
- Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. EMER- soN a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at lduffalo, in the county of Erie and State. of New York,'have invented new and useful Improvements-in Grease-Cups, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to grease cups for the lubrication of bearings and consists in a simple and compact arrangement and construction particularly adapted for'thehandling of greasewhen put up inthe form of capsules or protectively inclosed charges of grease contained within a suitable container or wrapper'and of a form and'size to be received within the cup. A particularly desirable feature of my invention consists in an improved arrangement whichgreatly facilie tates the removal ofthe emptied containers withouthandling, thus eliminating danger 'of soiling the hands. 7

Having described my invention I claim} LA grease-cup adapted for use with grease in containers, comprising a base por- 7 tion having a passage therethrough forthe grease, a cap adapted for connection with the base and movable relative to'the base to feed the grease and means on the base to engage a container to 'prevent'its removal with the cap.

A grease cup adapted for use with grease in containers comprisingabase por- 7 tion having a passage therethrough for the grease, a cap threaded thereto to be movable relative to the base to compress the grease container and said base having a shoulder formed thereon and a groove ad acent the shoulder to'engage with the crushed container to retain it on the base on removal of the cap.

A grease cup adapted for use with grease in containers comprising a base portion, having a passage therethrough for the grease, means'for securing it in position, a cap threaded thereto to be movable relative to the base to compress the ease container and said base having a SlOIlldBI' formed thereon to be engaged by the crushed container to retain it on the base on removal'of the cap, said shoulder being formed by a groove in the base and said groove being inclined to guide the turning in of the container.

A grease cup comprising a base having a passage for the outflow of the grease, said base being adapted to be fixed in position adjacent the bearing to'be lubricated, a second part movable with relation to the base to force the grease out from a compressible capsule through the passage and to compress the capsule on the base, and means on the base to engage with and retain the capsule when the latterhas been compressed.

A grease cup for use with a compressible capsule containing grease, comprising a' fixed base adapted to be fixed in position adjacent the part to be lubricated and formed with a passage for the outflow of the grease, and a second part arranged to be movable with relation to the base to compress the capsule thereon'and to expel the grease from the capsule, said base being provided with a shoulder'and a groove adjacent the shoulder to engage with and retain the compressed capsule. 7. A grease cup comprising a base, a cap threaded to engage witha thread on the base and adapted to be screwed down thereon to expel the grease from a compressible capsule, and means on the upper end of the base for engaging with and retaining the compressed capsule.

The combination with a grease cup comprising a base having a small outlet passage for the lubricant and a cap threaded to fit the base, of a compressible grease capsule containing lubricant arranged within the cap and adapted to be'compressed between the cap and the base, aS the former is turned down on the latter, said capsule having a closed end and an open end arranged adjacent the base, andmeans on the upper end of the base to engage with the margin of the crushed capsule at its open end and retain the capsule whenthe'cap is withdrawn. v
9. Atwo part grease cup, adapted to receive a grease containing capsule of compressible material, comprising'a base, a cy: 'lindrical cap having an open lower end to admit the upper end of the base and internally threaded to engage with the same, and means on the upper end of the baseto engage with and retain the compressed capsule after the grease has been expelled and while the cap is being withdrawn.
