AM PHoro-LmmsHAPH/c ca Mx (osaomvg's macfss) UNITED STATES 'PATENT OFFICEa THOMAS W. MOORE, OF-NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO FANNIE N. MOORE, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED BUREAUS,WASHSTANDS,AND WARDROBES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,380, dated April 1, 1873; application i'led January 18, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, THOMAS W. MOORE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combined Bureau, Wash-Stand, and Vardrobe, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of an upright wood case, divided vertically in two principal compartments, one of which is devoted to the purposes of a wash-stand in the lower part, and a bureau in the'upper pa-rt, and the other is, by preference, devoted to the purposes of a wardrobe, but may have drawers instead, the wash-stand part being provided with supports for the wash-bowl and soap-dish, which swing out from under the drawers above when a door which incloses the front is opened; also, with special places for the other articles ot'crockery- Ware appertaining to a dressing-room. A door is also provided for the wardrobe when used as such. The object is to combine either two or three of the principal articles ofthe furni. ture of a room in one, so as to economize space and expense.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved article, the doors of the wash-stand and wardrobe being open. Fig. 2 isa vertical sectional elevation of Fig. 1 taken on the line cc cc, and
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section taken on the line Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the said inclosed upright case, which is divided vertically into two principal compartments by the partition B. The part on one side of this partitionsay the lei't--is divided horizontally bythe partition O, forming a compartment, D, for the purposes of a washstand, and another, E, for one or more bureau drawers for, containing linen. The compa-rtment F on the left hand will, by` preference, be used as a wardrobe, having hooks G for hanging the clothes, and a door, H, for closing it; but by dispensing with the door and hooks, drawers may bel fitted in it, in which case a bureau and wash-stand only will be comprised in the article, the bureau having large capacity; but it will probably be more desirable to include the Wardrobe, and in creasev the drawer capacity, if necessary, by additional drawers on the top, as indicated by the dotted lines. ln the wash-stand compartment D, I provide a swinging frame, J, for the wash-bowl, and another, K, for the soapdish near the top; and at the bottom I arrange a stand, L, for the water-pitcher, on one side of `which will be a space, N, for the slop-pail, and beneathit a space for the mug. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent` i The bureau, wardrobe, and Wash-stand, embraced in one article, and respectively arranged as and for the purpose described.
T. W. MOORE.
