Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led June 4, 1920. Serial No. 386,624.
.To all whom it 'may concern Be it known that I, EDWIN C. J. LLOYD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jeannette, in the county of lVestmoreland and State of Pennsylvania. have invented new and useful Improvements in Boxes and Attachments Thereor, ot' which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to boxes or containers and attachments therefor, and more particularly to means whereby a brush or dauber may be detachably associatedwith a `cover of a shoe polish box.
One of the main objects of the invention is to lprovide simple and eiiicient means whereby a brush or dauber may be readily attached to the cover of a shoe polish box so as to be readily accessible for use in applying the polish. A further object is to provide simple and efficient means for attaching the brush to the box cover iii such manner as to be positioned within the outlines thereof and below the plane of the upper face of the cover so as to permit the boxes to be packed for shipment in the usual manner. Further objects will appear from the detailed description.
In the drawings Figure l is a top plan view of a box constructed in accordance with my invention showing a brush attached to the cover.
Fig. 2 is a section taken substantially on i line 2 2 of Fig. l.
The box l is formed of sheet metal in the known manner and-comprises a lower section 2 and a removable cover 3. The cover is formed with a diametrically extending dove tail groove 4: which communicates at one end with a iflepression 5. This groove and the depression copei'ate to receive a substantially T-shaped brush 6 the handle 7 of which has its lateral edges 7 beveled to fit beneath the inclined side walls ta of ble and may be used for groove 4.
