V;Applicationfled-December 31, 1919. Serial No. 348,575. i I
To all 'whom it may concern.' n y Be it known that I, VALENTINE DICKER-l soN, a citizen oaf the United States, land a resident of Stapleton, Staten Island, in the cofunty of Richmond and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Game, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to that class of device in which pellets of desired construction are utilized in connection with what might be termed a maze, a central inclosure being associated with such maze, into which the pellets are to be guided by tilting the supporting means for the maze, but without the assistance of the hands in direct contact with the pellets.
It is well known that any number of devices having this construction in mind have been patented and placed upon the market, the best known of which devices being commonly known as Pigs in clover.
invention now aims to produce a device having in mind this construction as a basis.
I propose to associate in this connection pellets of peculiar construction, which shall be unique in this particular adaption in that they produce motion when placed upon their surface and are of a highly ludicrous nature.
A further and chief object of my invention is the construction of a maze which shall render it extremely difficult to cause all of the parts employed to move into the central inclosure.
Having these objects in mind reference is had to the attached sheet of drawings in which: l l
Figure l is a perspective view of the maze forming the main portion of the game, and,
Fig. 2 is a sectional side view of one of the pellets employed in connection with the maze.
In all of these views like reference numerals designate similar parts, and the reference numeral l indicates a base which may be of any desired construction or material, and upon the upper face and adjacent and parallel the side edges of the same there is mounted a strip 2, comprising a confining wall.
Spaced from the strip 2 and arranged adjacent the corners formed by the same are corner walls 3, having their ends spaced one from the other, so as to provide openings 4 for d a `purpose hereinafter fmore vfully speci- JWithin the space inclosed by the corner f strips ,3 yand Aspaced fromrand adjacent the openings tare strips such as 5, one of which is provided with inwardly extending strips having their outer ends associated with the edges of the strip 5', and their inner ends terminating at a position short of the point of their intersection, so as to provide a small lspace between their inner edges.
Arranged upon the base 1, and within the space inclosed by the strip 2 are parts including an incasing member 6, in which there is movably inclosed'a weight 7 on the order of a BB shot.
It will now be noted that by virtue of my improved construction of the inclosing members and the parts associated with the base forming the -floor of the inclosure, extreme difficulty will be experienced in causing the pellets to move extraneous of any hand guidance into the inclosure formed by the strip 5 with which the inwardly extending strips are associated. This difliculty may well be appreciated upon noting that a pellet entering through the opening 4 between the corner strips 3 is confronted with the obstacle of the strips 5. The pellet must now be worked vbetween these latter strips, and upon passing between them must enter into the inclosure formed by the strips 5, and inwardly. extending strips 5. Even upon one or two pellets entering into this inclosure it is extremely difficult to cause a third pellet to move into the same by virtue of the fact that upon the base 1 being tilted in a certain direction the pellets already within the inclosure will be caused to move from the same. f A
Further, by virtue of the peculiar` con A struction of the pellets the same will be caused to perform any number of amusing antics upon reaching the inclosure aforedescribed, so that a great amount of mirth is provided and amusement afforded to the person operatingthe game as well as to onlockers.
Obviously numerous modications of structure might well be resorted to within the scope of my invention, which I claim as:
1. A ame, including a base, corner walls mounte upon said base and having their end edges spaced one from the other, whereby to provide a plurality of openings, strips also secured to said base, and being arranged within the space inclosed by said corner strips, and in a position at which they are in line with and spaced from the openings existent between said corner strips, means attached to one of said latter strips for forming an inclosure, said base being adapted to receive a movable means adapted to be embodied within said inclosure by rocking said base.
2. A game, including a base, corner walls mounted upon said base and having their end edges spaced one from the other, whereby to provide a plurality of openings, strips a also secured to said base, and being arranged,
within thespace `inclosedI by said corner strips, and in a positionat which they are in line with and spaced from the openings eX- istent between said corner strips, inwardly extending strips having one oily-their ends attached to oneof the rst named strips, their opposite ends being spaced from each other, whereby to form an inclosure, said base being adapted to receive movable means to be moved into said inclosure by rocking said base.
