To all whom it may concern:
e it known that we, W'ILLIAa-i' t l-turn and ANTON lV. Srnrn, citizens of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

Fig. 6 is a view analogous to Figs. 1 and 4, and showing a portable stand support in stead of the wall bracket shown in Fig. 1, or the post shown in Fig. 4.

Referring to Fig-s1, 2 and 3, an attaching plate 1 is adapted to fit against the flat face of a wall 2 and be secured in place by screws 3 inserted through the plate into the wall. A vertical socket 4 extends inwardly from the attaching plate 1, thus producing a wall bracket 5. lever 6 is mounted upon a pivot 7 in the socket 4 and in a slot 8, and the lower end of the lever 6 swings into the socket opening 9. The upper end of the lever serves as a handle, and a spring 10 is secured to the socket and engages the handle to throw the handle outwardly and the lower end inwardly to form a catch. The horizontal supporting arm 11 is formed integral with a vertical pintle 12, there being a shoulder 13 at the upper end of the pintle 12 to fit upon the upper end of the socket 4. and the pintle 12 fits rotatably in the opening 9. A recess 14 is formed in the pintle 12 to receive the catch formed by the lever 6, so that when the pintle is shoved relatively simed upon the bolt to down into the socket the catch will hold the pintle from being withdrawn until the upper part of the lever is operated to compress the spring 10 and release the catch. A vertical bar 15 is rigid with the outer and of the arm 11 and extends up and down. A. for; 16 extends upwardly from the bar The lazy tong lever 17 is hingedly connected to the upper end of the bar 15 by a pin 18. The second lazy tong lever 19 has its lower end inserted through a vertical slot in the lower end of the bar 15, and pins 20 and 21 are fixed through the lower end upon opposite sides of the bar 15 so as to allow the bar to move up and down as required by the lazy tong action. The levers 17 and .19 are connected by a pivot 22. l
A plurality of lazy tong levers 23 are CO11-- nected to the lower end of the lever 17 and to the upper end of the lever 19 by pivots 24 and 25. vertical bar 26 is connected to the upper end of the last lazy tong lever 27 by a pivot 28, and the lower end of the last lazy tong lever 29 extends through a vertical slot in the lower end of the bar 26, and pins 30 and 31 are inserted through the lever 29 on opposite sides of the bar 26 so as to allow the lever 29 to move up and down relative to the bar 26 as required by the lazy tong action. A fork 32 extends upwardly from the bar 26, and with fork 16 forms a convenient support for the lamp cord 33. A horizontal arm 34 extends forwardly from the center of the bar 26 and has abearing 35, said bearing 35 having a horizontal axis and the end faces of the bearing being corrugated, the spring arms 36 and 37 having bearings 38 and 39 fitting the corrugated faces upon the bearing 35. A bolt 40 is inserted through the bearings 39, 35 and 38, and a wing nut 41 is screw seatclamp the bearings 38 and 39 against the bearing 35 to hold the spring arms 36 and 37 in an adjusted position. The outer ends 42 and 43 of the spring arms 36 and 37 are curved outwardly and the central portions 44 and 45 of the spring arms are concavo-convex, so that the electric lamp socket 46 attached to the cord 33 may be passed between the ends 42 and 43 to the portions 44 and 45, and said portions 44 and 45 will embrace the neck of the lamp socket and hold it in position, as shown in F ig. 1. The spring arms 36 and 37 may be adjusted up and down by manipulating the wing nut 41' to tilt the lamp l7 to any desired position. It is obvious that the lazy tong action will carry the lamp to and from the wall 2 to the limits of the action.
Referring to Figs. 4: and is mounted in clips 49 and a9 and 50 have split clamping bearings 51 and 52- adapted to enga e a vertical post like a bed post 53, and the lazy tong construction shown in Fig. 1 may be removed from the wall bracket and inserted into the socket l8 when desired.

Referring to Fig. 7 the lamp holding 'iork 57 has a'serew threaded stem 58 reinovably screwed into a boss 59, and the boss carried by a bar similar to the bar 26, thus making a rigid connection between the lamp 60 and theilazy tong construction 50, and the clips instead of the adjustable joint shown in Fig. 3.
