To all fw 710m t may concern Be it known that, VViLLiAu a citizen of the United States, and resident of the cityoi Seattle, county of King, andA State oi" Ti/Vashington, have inven-ted certain` new and useful improvements in Butter- Gutteis, of which `the following is a specifi# cation.l U Y This invention relates to improvements in butter cutters, and more particularly to devices othat character whereby cales'of butter may be cut into small chips :tor individual table use. Y I y It is the principal object of the invention to provide a butter cutter of the character` above stated, wherein means is provided for cutting chipsv ot diiierent thicknesses, andy provision is made or main-taining the cutters taut and Asecurely mounted so as to avoid any unevennessin cutting. Vll() f When the device is in use, it is preferred to mount the cutters adjacent the lower edge of the side rails 2,. and iic it is desired to change the thickness of ythe chips, the bars are removed and inverted, so that the different thickness may be accomplished but the cutters will still be maintained` -adjacentthe lower edge of the frame.. lHowever, if it is desired, the cutters may be mounted to ex tend across the opening adjacent the top of the frame.
In the present device a wire 2,0 is attached to the opposite ends oi the frame to extend centrally across the frame opening trans# pins extending therefrom `vals and cutter strips extending across said permit an easy .site edges of the bars being versely beneath the cutter strips l5 to divide the vcakes of Vbutter longitudinally.
Assuming' that the device is so oonstructed, in using the same, a cake of butter to be cut intochips-is placed upon the base 13 while the frame l is in elevated position; or is entirely removed from the base. The frame is then placed in position, in case it had been removed, and the levers 8 swung, from inwardly extending position outwardly, so that the geared heads l0 engaging with the raclr surfaces of the standards Y12 will Vmove theV raine downwardly to press the cutters edgewise through the cake oi" butter to cut the saine in small cakes.
