Be it known that I, HUGH R. l/VEAVER, residing at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State ofPennsylvania, acitizen of the United $tates, have invented or discovered certain new and useful Improve ments in Ironing-Boards, of which improve ments the following is a specification.-

The invention described herein relates to certain improvements in ironing-boards and has for its object a construction whereby a support for one end of the boards, as the edge of a table-top or a shelf 1s firmly gripped between the end of the board and a pivotally mounted member or lever, whlch is adapted to form a portion of thesupport for the opposite end of the board, the other member of such support being formed by a strut or leg pivotally connected to the board and adapted to be adjusted along the lever as the board is being moved to the desired horizontal position. The invention is hereinafter more fully described and claimed. 7

In the practice of the invention, a U- shaped clip 1 is secured to the underside of the board a short. distance from one end thereof and a section of pipe 3 is pivotally supported between the legs of the clip by a pin 6i passing through the legs of the clip, and the pipe sectipn. This pipe section is so mounted on the board that when the end of the latter is placed on a table top indicated at 5 and the free or outer end of the pipe allowed to drop, the table edge Will be firmly gripped between the board and the portion of the pipe at'the left of its pivotal point. The lever is made of such a' length that when the board is in the desired position the end of the lever will rest on the floor, and in order that the short end .ofthe lever may not bear on the underside of the table 5 before the opposite end of thelever rests on the floor, the legs of the clips 1 have a plurality of holes'for the pivot 'pin so that the position of the lever in the clip by a section of of a section of my hand.
