Application filed. July 1a, 1918. sea-a1 no. 245,449." 1'- To all whom itmay concern.-
Be it known that I, SON, a subject of the King of Sweden, and a resident of Prince Bay,'in the county of Richmond, State of New York, have invented certain new and usefull'mprovements 1n Dental Impression-Trays, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates particularly to that.
class of devices which are employed by dentists in taking the impressions of the human mouth, and is especially directed to the form and manufacture of; such devices. The principal obj'ectsof my invention are, to provide a dental impresslon traythat may be stamped from a single blank of sheet ma terial to produce a light, strong, efficient, inexpensive unitary structure. v
Other objects of my invention are, to provide a dental impression tray so constructed and arranged as to afford ample rigidity yet permitting distortion sufficient to adapt it to the different conditionsto' besfound in the human mouth. I
Specifically stated, the form of my inven-' tion as hereinafter described"comprehends a dental impression tray having the upturned wall of its plaster-receiving bowl extended to form a handle.
- My invention also includes all of the various novel features of constructionand aris av plan view of an impression tray condesdribed.
ran ement as. hereinafter more definitely structed in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of said impression tray; and Fig. 3'is a central vertical longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 3-3 in Fig. 1.
'In said figures the plaster-receiving bowl 1 is of substantially semi-circular contour having its perimetral wall 2 upturned and veniently manipulated.
provided at its medial region with a projection extending downwardly and. outwardly to form a handle in unitary relation with said bowl, by which the tray may be con- As best shown inFig. 1, the downwardly extending portion 3 of the handle-curves laterally in substantial conformity with the curve of the perimetra'l wall of the bowl .1, and "the outwardly extendingiportion 5 of said handle is provided with the depression 6 forming a rib, and curving Specification of Letters Patent.

'2 transversely in a vertical 'plane,,whereby' i ample rigidity ofthe structure is-afforded of'either the upper or lower mandible, and when employed for the lower mandible will obviously be; inverted from thepos'ition illustrated, therefore, where the upturned wall and downwardly extendingprojecting portion is herein referred to, it is tobe understoodthat 'reference is had tothe structure as positioned in the drawings. V My inventi'on isadvantageous in that by so formin, the impression tray, it may be stamped'from single blank of sheet material, preferablymetal, thereby providing a structure which is not east and therefore not cumbersome, -asare the. trays in which the bowl and handleare separately formed and united by solder or rivets. .Although the handle of the tray is shown in the drawings as extending from'the for-.
ward edge of thebowl, it will be obvious that itfmay, if desired, be extended forwardly from the inner edge of the bowl, and f therefore, I do not desireto li mit my invention to the precise -'details ofv construc tion and arrangement as herein set forth, as it'is obvious that various modifications maybe made therein without. departing .from; the essential features of .my inveng ion as defined in the appendedclaimsr Having thus'described my invention, v
claim I 1 dental impression tray having "the upturned wall of its plaster-receivin bowl extended downwardly and outwarc ly to form a handle, and having a central'longitudinally extending depression :arranged to form a bracing'rib in' said handle. 7
2. A identa'l'impression tray formed of sheet material and having the upturned wall of its plaster-receiving bowl extended downwardly below the plane of the bots tomof said bowl, andoutwardly to form a handle, whereby a spaceis afforded between the rear wall of said bowl and handle A In witness whereof, .I have hereunto set my hand this8th dayof Jul A.
