When the pin le is engaged with one or the notches l0, the tooth l5 will be engaged With one of the ratchet teeth 8 and thernut-engaging edges of the jaws 6v and il-12 will be parallel, or, as shown by itull lines in the drawings. To adjust the movable jew toward or from the fixed jaw, it is necessary first to rock the former to a position indicated by dotted lines vat the left in Fig. l, and then the said jaw, thus rocked, may be slid either towardorl from the iiXed jaw and may thereafter be reloclred to the head 6 in any of its several possible adjustments. rlfhe above noted adjustments may be quickly accomplished and the movable jaw is very rigidly locked in respect to the fixed jaw.
