Be it known that I, DONALD A. ,FnNwicm a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bisbee, in the county of Cochise and State of Arizona, have invented a new and Improved Razor, of which the following 1s a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in razors, and more particularly to a razor having a removable double edged blade supported in an improved holder or frame which has the general appearance and operates in the same way as the ordinary old style razor.
A further object is to provide improved means for securing the razor in the holder which permits the removal of the blade as occasion may require, and permits the use of a thin steel double edged blade which can` be cheaply manufactured and one blade substituted for another when the used blade becomes dull.
A further object is to provide a razor of the character stated which permits the blade to be sharpened on the ordinary strop and which is composed of a plurality of parts readily taken apart and assembled and Y lwhich can be manufactured and sold at a reasonably low price.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts aswill be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

Referring particularly to Figs. 1 to 9 inclusive which illustrate the preferred form of my invention, 1 represents a handle of the ordinary shape employed on the old style of razor. In connection with the handle 1, I employ two frame members A and B which have shank portions 2 and 3 respectively pivotally connected by a rivet 4 to the bifurcated handle 1. One of these Shanks 2 has an opening 5 to receive the rivet 4 and the other shank has a recess 6 to receive the rivet 4 which allows the shank 3 to move away from the rivet when the frame members are pivoted one upon the other, as will more fully hereinafter appear.
The shank portions 2 and 3 of the frame members A and B are laterally offset throughout a portion of their length as shown at 12, and these offset portions are made with openings 7 to receive a pivoted clamping device 8 as illustrated in section in Fig. 9. The clamping device 8 comprises an internally screw threaded sleeve having a flanged end 9 which is countersunk into the frame member and said sleeve fits a bearing sleeve 10 in the openings 7. A headed screw 11 is screwed into the sleeve 8 and the flange 9 andthe head of the screw 11 coperate to clamp the members A and B together and by reason of the offset portions 12, which constitute springs, a clamping action is had. This member 8 operates as a pivot so that the member B can be swung on such pivot to separate the free ends of said members and in such movement the recessed portion 6 rides onto and off of the rivet 4 as will be readily understood.
The frame A is provided at its intermediate portion with per endicular lugs 13 and at opposite sides o the lugs 13 angularly positioned lugs 14 are fixed to the member A and operate as wedges to enter recesses 15 in the member B, said recesses having beveled walls as indicated. A recess 16 is provided in the member B to receive the lugs 13 and the walls of the lugs 13 and this recess 16 are perpendicular to faces of members A and B respectively. The walls of the lugs 13 and 14 and recesses 15 and 16 are curved concentrically with the pivot 8.
It will thus be noted that when the member B is moved downwardly parallel to the member A, the lugs 13 and 14 will be accommodated in the recesses 16 and 15 respectively and by reason of the wedge shape of the pairs of lugs 14 engaging the beveled walls of the recesses 15, the members A and B will be tightly held together.
The member A has a flange 17 at its upper edge which operates to space the member B therefrom and provide a space to receive the double edged relatively thin razor blade 18. The blade 18 has openings 19 and 20 of the proper size and shape to receive the lugs 13 Vand 14 respectively and the blade 18 is of a width suiiicient to pro iect beyond the edges of the members A and to present a cutting edge for shaving purposes.
The members A and B are provided on their outer Vfaces with longitudinal grooves 2l and a channel piece 22 is adapted to slide onto the members A and B and is provided withinternal flanges 23 fitting in the grooves 21 and effectually locking the members A and B in alinement with the-blade 18v in position therein.
When the parts are assembled as aboveV described, the blade will be securely held, and when it is desired to clean the razor or change the blade, it is necessary tolirst remove the channel 22 and then swing the member B on the pivoted clamping device 8 when the blade 18 can be removed and l the parts cleaned and reassembled as above described.
Various other slight changes may bemade 1n the general form and .arrangement of parts described without departing from the c device pivotally connecting saidY offset portions, beveled lugs on one frameA member forming wedges, the other frame member having recessesreceiving said lugs, means for securing said members against independent movement, a blade fitting between said members, said offset portions coperating with said wedges to clamp said blade tightly between said frame members.

A razor, comprising a pair of frame members pivotally connected between their ends, beveled lugs on one frame member forming wedges, the other frame member having recesses with beveled walls receiving said lugs, a blade having openings therein, said openings having beveled walls and registering with said lugs, andmeans for clamping said blade between said frame members.
