To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, HUGH A. ROBINSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Keyport, in the county Of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and nuseful VImprovements in Aeroplane of connecting theY same to the end of the longrons, and Fig. 3 isa front view looking from left to right at Fig. 1.
Referring now more particularly to Fig. 2, it will be observed that the end of the longron is secured within the socket member 4 where it is securely clam ed by bolts passing through the holes 5 in t e lugs 6. 7 indicates other holes through which bolts are passed for securing the ends of the longron,
d and 8 indicates a bolt projecting through the plate 9 secured to the end of the longron as shown and said bolt is provided with a nut 10 for securing the socket 4 tO the longron, said socket then being secured to the engine bed or cradle. The bottom of the engine bed Or cradle may be secured by lugs such as 11 provided with bolt holes 12.

indicate the uprights at the back bf the cradle -or frame and the front of these are preferably covered by a screen or plate 22 which extends entirely across to prevent back flashing and to protect the aviator. The spacer bar 23 serves tO connect the front ends of the engine bed 13 and the lugs 24 serve as anchorages for the stay wires or other supporting means employed.
The engine cradle Or frame support shown, it will be observed provides a strong, light and rigid structure and may be conveniently secured at the front of the fuselage quickly and conveniently.
Of course it will be understood that varous modifications may be made in the construction and `arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed. n A
I claim:
1. In a device of the class described, a pair of V-shaped.side framesand a rectangular cross frame connecting the same at the back, said V-frames. more separated at the back than at the front and an engine supporting frame projected inwardly between said V- frames and said back and extending fore and aft between the same.
2. In a device of the class descr'ibed,'a pair of V-shaped side frames and aurectangular cross frame connecting the same at the bac-k, said V-frames more separated at the back than at the front and an engine supporting frame projected inwardly betweensaid V- frames and said back and extending fore and aft between the same, and in combination with said device longron sockets adapted to be secured at the corners of the same for attaching said device to the fuselage of an aeroplane.
