IMPROVEMENT IN GUN-SIGHTS.
Specification forming part of (Letters Patent No. 136,159, dated February 25, 1873.
To all u-hom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, MUNsoN W. EARRING- TON, of Homestead, in the county of Iowa and State of Iowa, have invented certain Improvements in Gun or Bille Sights, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists mainly in the combination of certain parts, whereby an adjustable and convertible coarse and tine sight is produced, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the drawing, Figures 1 and 2 represent views in elevation from front and rear, and Fig. 3 a side elevation.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe fully its construction and manner of operation.
A represents a slotted standard, suitably hinged to the barrel or stock at any proper point. B represents an adjustable slide, which is adapted to slide upon the standard A, and is held in any desired position by the spring b engaging with the notches upon one of the legs of the standard. This slide is provided with proper si ghtholes, as shown. C also represents a slide adapted to move in the ways of slide B, which is provided with holes of diii'erent size, as shown.
By raising the slide G the slide B can be used as a coarse sight, but by lowering it a fine sight is obtained.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination of the slotted standard A and slides B and C, as described.
2. The combination of the parts herein described, whereby an adjustable and convertible coarse and fine sight is produced, substantially as specified. i
` MUNSON W. HARRINGTON.
