ELIAS H. .HAKE, OF OANFIELD, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN TRAMMELS FOR LlFTlNG-JACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,156, dated February 25, 1873.
To all whom it mag "concern:
Be it known that I, ELIAS H. HAKE, of Canfield, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented an Improved Trammel for Lifting-Jacks, &c., of which the following is a specification: I
The object of my invention is the formation and construction of what I call a trammeP' to be employed with liftingjacks, whereby such lifting-jacks may be more easily employed in various positions than hitherto, the said trammel being formed separate from but capable of being readily attached to the jack by means of a hook or projection forming part of the trammel.
I will now proceed to describe my invention in detail by aid of the accompanying draw in g.
Description of the Drawing.
Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Figs. 2, 3, 4, and 5 are details, of my improved trammel. Fig. 6 represents my improved tranimel attached to the jack.
A Ais the main bar or upright of the apparatus, which is by preference formed of iron or steel, and of a diameter and strength in proportion to the Weight to be lifted. B B are hooks or projections formed one on each side and at opposite ends of the bar or upright A. 0 is a cross-bar affixed to the upper end of the bar or upright A. The surface b of the hook or projection B and the surface act the cross- I bar 0 may be roughened or formed with pins or proj ections, in order more securely to hold then turned till the object 1 as been raised to the desired height, when the object will be propped or otherwise retained in position, and the apparatus removed for further use, as required.
The various parts of my improved trammel may be either cast in one piece, forged, or welded, or otherwise connected together.
Having thus described my invention, I would have it understood that what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A trammel for lifting-jacks having a main bar or upright, A, hooks B B, and across-bar, 0, arranged and constructed substantially as and for the purpose described and set forth.
The foregoing is the specification of an invention signed by me this 5th day of March, 187 2.
' ELIAS H. HAKE.
