.This invention relates -to a novel construction of receiver, of envelop form, for the reception of exposed photographic films,
said envelop having embodied therein developing chemicals, or combined developing and fixing chemicals, whereby the simple operation of soaking the envelop in a Water bath will result in developing the inclosed film; the developing operation being carried on in daylight, if desired, and at any place where the water bath is available.
The accompanying drawing is a perspective view of an envelop embodying my present improvement; said envelop being made of absorbent material, of suitable size to receive an exposed film, or glass plate. and provided with a gummed flap A by means of which the envelop may be readily sealed and thereby made light-tight.
My invention consists, essentially, in providing for the development of the exposed film without'removing it from the envelop .and this I may accomplish by placing in the envelop, before it is sealed, a suitable charge of soluble developer which will become liquefied when the envelop is soaked in water and, acting upon the inclosed sensitized film, will result in developing the said film and bringing out the desired image. Or, if preferred, the absorbent material of ,which the envelop is made may be saturated, or otherwise treated, with the develop ing solution which is allowed to dry and become, and remain, a. component part of the envelop, ready to be released in liquid form, within the envelop, whenever the envelop is subjected to a water bath.
The described envelop is designed mainly for use with a special construction of camera in which provision is made for" transferring the exposed film from said camera to the envelop but, as the said camera has no particular relation to this present invention, I have thought it unnecessary to illustrate and describe it here,
By the aid of my described envelop, it is quite feasible to develop exposed films while the photographer is afield or, at all events, without having to resort to a dark-room.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. An envelop for exposed photo films, containing a charge of developer.
2. An envelop for photo films containing soluble developing chemicals.
3. An envelop for sensitized photo films, containing soluble developing chemicals, and means for excluding light from the interior of said envelop.
4. A photo film envelop, means for excluding light from the interior of said envelop,
and means, embodied in said envelop, for
light from the interior of said envelop; said "material being treated with developing chemicals.
