it known that l, RICHARD BABY, al citizen Voi" the United States, residing at Loudonville, in the county of Ashland and State oi yOhio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Spacing A'tachments ytor T-Squares, oii'which'the following is a spa-icitlcation, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
AThe invention relates to spacing attach ments lf'or T-squares and has for its object to provide an attachment, which attachra it is slidably mounted on the T-square blade so `thatl the same may be moved longitudinally and to provide on said slidable attachment a second slidable attachment which may be moved intermittently in parallelism Awith the T square blade therebyY allowing vthe drawing of lines equally distanced apart.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral ll designates a conventional form oi" T square, which T square is provided .with a conventional form of Tv head 2 and a protractor head 3 whereby the blade 4 of thejT square Disposed on the blade 4 of the T square is a plate 5,
which plate is provided with a longitudinal flange 6 overlying one edge of the blade 4. Secured to the plate 5 by means of the screw 7 which passes through an elongated slot 8 isa right angled clip 9, the flange 10 of which overlies the edges of the blade 4 at the oppo- Y site side of the flange 6. It will be 'seen that when the plate 5 is on the blade 4 and the flanges 6 and 10 are in engagement with the edges oi' said blade that the plate will be held on the blade against wabbling. Itv will also be seen that the plate may be slid longitudinally on the blade to any position desired. Disposed on top of thefplate 5 is a slidable plate 11,4 which plate is adaptedto be slid inwardly and outwardly at right angles to theblade 4 of the T square. Plate 11 is provided with elongatedslots 12 at its ends and through which plates guidev screws 13 pass. Guide screws 13 are placed in right angle alinement `to the blade 4 and snugly lit the elongated slots 12 so that as theslidable plate 11 is moved intermittently,
the front straight edge 14 w-illl move in par-- allelism with the edge 15 Vof the blade 4 vso that any lines drawn along the straight edge 141 will be parallel to the straightedge- 4. ISlidable plate 11 extends forwardly ofthe edge 15 oi the blade 4 and inclines downwardly until its forward end isin the Asame plane with the under tace of the blade 4- vso that said forward edge will rest upon the paper during a drawing operation. Plate 11 yat a point adjacent the edge 15 of the bladeV 4 is provided with an elongated cut away portion 16 and inalinement with said elongated cutaway portion 16, the plate 11 is vbent upwardly so as to form the convex portions 17. The outer ends of the convex portions 17 are provided with downwardly eX- tending ears 18, in bearings of which the pintles of a rubber roller 19 are journaled. By providing the convex portions 17 it will be seen that the upper side of the roller when journaled in the bearings of the ears 1S will project for a greater partvof its length upwardly through the elongated opening 16 so that the saine may bel engaged by the fingers of the operator as the slidable member 11 is intermittently moved during a line spacing operation. The forward edge of the opening y16 is provided with an upturned lip 2O so that the operator, during line spacing operation, will be prevented from engaging the roller with the fingers, at
point which would cause a backward slipping of the slidable plate 11.
Secured to one edge of the forward portions of the slidable member 11 is an adjustable space indicating arm 91 which arm is adapted to be adjusted so that its end 22 may be spaced in relation to the edge 14 according to the width of spacing desired between the lines to be drawn. draw a line spaced from another line the end Q2 is adjusted the proper distance in relation to the straight edge 1li. rlfhen the operator draws aline alongvthe straight edge, after which he places his fingers in engagement with the roller 19, then rotates the roller so as to move the slidable member 11 in the direction of the arrow a until the end Q2 comes into registration with the line which has been drawn at which time the second line is drawn, The above operation Y being` repeated as many times as desired. lt
will be seen that by the use of the protractoiI head T square that it will be possible to maire equally spaced lines at any angle., r)The roller 19 at one or both of its ends is provided with graduations 23, which graduations may be used for spacing, independently of the adjustable member 21 by bring-` ing any one of its graduations in registration with indicator pointers 24 carried on the conveXed portions 17.
From the above it will be seen that a line spacer is provided which is formed from a single sheet of metal and one wherein by the engagement with the paper of the rubber roller duringa shifting operation, the possibility of making irregular lines is obvi ated.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as vnew and useful is:
1. A line spacer for T squares, said line spacer comprising a plate adapted to be When it is desired to4 received by the T square blade, a slidable plate slidably mounted and guided at a right angle to the T square blade and mounted on the T square plate, said slidable plate eX- tending beyond one edge of the blade and having its edge in parallelism with the edge of the blade, a graduated roller carried by said slidable plate and adapted to engage the surface on which the T square blade rests, and indicator pointers on the slidable' plate adjacent the graduated roller. l
2. A line spacer for T squares, saidline spacer comprising a plate carried by the T square blade, a plate slidably mounted on the T square plate and slidable at an angle to the T square blade, said slidable plate extending outwardly from the blade and inclined downwardly, said slidable plate be ing provided with conveXed portions, and an elongated aperture disposed between the convexed portions, a rotatable graduated roller rotatably mounted in bearings of the plate and disposed below the conveXed portions and having its upper side protruding through the elongated aperture, said roller being adapted to be engaged by the fingers so that the slidable plate may be intermittently moved during a line spacing and drawing operation, and indicator pointers on the slidable plate adjacent the graduated roller to indicate equal spacing lines.
3. A line spacer for Tsquares, said line spacer comprising a plate carried by the T square blade, a plate slidably mounted on the T square plate and slidable at an angle to the T square blade, said slidable plate extending outwardly from the blade and inclined downwardly and provided with conveXed portions, and an elongated aperture in the plate disposed between the convexed portions, a rotatable roller rotatably mounted in bearings of the plate and disposed below the convexed portion and having its upper side protruding through the elongated aper ture, said roller being adapted to be engaged by the ingers so that theslidable plate may be intermittently moved during a line spacing operation, and an adjustable linger eX- tending beyond the forward edge of the slidable plate andadapted to befmoved into `registration with each line,Y as it is drawn along the forward'edge of the slidable plate.
