MICHAEL QUIN, OF GALVESTON, TEXAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN BALE-TIES.
Speccation forming part of Letters Patent No. 135,938, dated February 18, 1873.
To all whom it may concern.; Be it known that I, MICHAEL QUIN, of Galveston, in the county of Galveston and State of Texas, have invented a new and improved mode of fastening iron or other metal ties or bands on cotton-bales and other packages usuend View, to be formed out of iron or any oth-v er metal or substance of sufficient strength, and cut, as presented in diagram E, with the slots H cutout, then the sides F to be turned up, as in perspective vieW'A, which clasp or buckle is to be used Wit-h an iron or any other metal band, with alternate notches or projecting shoulders cut in the saine, as shown in Il;
and the said bands may be provided with one or more of the notches7 offsets, or shoulders, as shown in the drawing, at the Will of the manufacturer, or as expediency may require; and the manner of applying said fastening lshall be by placing the notched band I)1 between the sides Fin the clasp, and drawing the band down until the shoulder D2 shall have entered the slot H provided for it then the other end ofthe band shall be brought around and inserted in a corresponding manner, when the fastening is complete. v
