To @ZZ w from it may conce-rn Be it known that I, HOWARD A. Sirocir, a citizen of the United States, residing at lndianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of indiana, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Combined lerosene-Converters and `Gas-Burners, of which the following isa specification.
This invention relates to that class of burners for converting kerosene into gas and for burning the gas so evolved for domestic heatino` purposes, as shown in lmy former Letters Patent No. 1,293,226, issued Feb. 4, 1919; and one of the objects of the invention consistsin the provision of a device' of the above character wherein the oil is fed and conveyed through the flame of the burning combustible mixture and subjected to a` steady heat for readily converting it into a gas which is subsequently discharged into a mixer wherein the proper amount of air is added to support efcient combustion.
A further object of the invention consists in the provision of a device of the above character wherein the conductor for conducting tlie oil through the device to the burner is rendered removable, enabling it to be cleaned when it becomes sufficiently fouled from an accumulation of carbon and soot to interfere with the flow 0f the oil through the conductor.
A still further object of the invention consists in the provision of a device for converting kerosene into `gas and for burning the gas for domestic heating purposes, which is simple in construction, efiicient in operation, and which is easily installed or removed from operative position.
I accomplish the above objects, of the invention andsuch others as may appear from a perusal of the following description and claim, by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved devicefor converting oil iiito gasy and for burning the gas for heat producing purposes. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary detail partly in plan and partly in section of one end of the device. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the device. Fig. 4 is a portion of the oil conductor pipe, showing a wick for cleaning and removing an accumulation of carbon and soot. Fig. 5 is a cross section of the conductor pipe.

Referring to the drawings, the body of the device comprises a rectangularly shaped base 10 forming a pan to receive the initial charge of oil initially employed in heating the burner. The base is divided into two compartments 11 and 12, separated by a central elevated portion 13 the upper surface of which forms a table for supporting the burner 14. Burner 14 is formed with closed sides and top, the lower vend being open, and this open end is closed by table 13. The lower edge of burner 14 is provided with a series of serrations 15 through which Y the oil and gas discharges. Burner 14 forms a chamber for receiving the converted gas and is provided at one end with an air mixer 16.
20 represents a conductor pipe for conducting the oil from a suitable source of supply, said conductor pipe extending lon- 'gitudinally to kcompartment 12 and relatively to the serrations 15 through which the gas discharges from burner 14, to keep the conductor pipe 2O at a proper temperature. As the oil passes through conductor pipe 20 it is converted into a gas before traveling a distance corresponding to the entire length of burner 14, and the gas is discharged through apipe 22 into mixer 16, and said discharge is controlled by means of the valve 25.
Pipe 2O may easily be removed from the device when suiiicient carbon yhas collected to interfere with proper conversion of thev oil into gas, by means of lsuitable fastening devices. comprising a hook 26 located at one end of the device and pivoted to the latter at 27, and the opposite and free end ofthe pipe 20 is preferably retained in operative position by means of an arm 30 and a threaded bolt 31. By unscrewing bolt 31 and elevating hook 26 into the position shown by dotted lines in Fig. 1, conductor pipe 20 may readily be removed and cleaned. The cleaning of pipe 2O is readily accomplished by the removal of a wire wick 35, shown in Figs. 4 and 5, which may be withdrawn from the interior of said pipe and therewith removing the accumulation of the excess carbon and soot. After wick 35 has been cleaned of the carbon and soot sediment, the wick may again be introduced into the conductor pipe 20 prior to the replacement ofthe latter into operative position.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
