Original application filed December 13, 1919, Serial No. 344,553. Divided and this application filed March To. all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STERLING H. CAMP- BELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at the city out St. Louis, State of Missouri, United States of America, have invented a certain new and useful Bracket for Uncoupling Devices, of which the tollowing is such a full, clear, and exact description as will enable anyone skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
lily invention relates to a bracket for uncoupling devices and is more particularly adapted for use in connection with uncoupling devices such as that shown and described in my prior application No. 34%553 of December 13, 1919, of which the present application is a division. It may, however, be used in connection withother forms of uncoupling device.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate one form of bracket made in accordance with my invention, Figure 1 isa top plan view, Fig. 2 is a side elevation, and Fig. 3 is a front elevation.
5 indicates a base plate which may be secured to the end of the car by bolts or rivets 6 passing through openings 7 in the said base plate. 9 is a vertical slot formed be tween a forwardly projecting V-shaped portion 10 of the base 5 and an opposing wall 11. This vertical slot 9 is adapted to receive the operating lever 12 of the uncoupling device. This operating lever 12 rests upon a curved bearing 14- forming the bottom of the slot 9. 15 is a locking pin adapted to be swung across the top of the vertical slot to secure the lever 12 in position and provided with a downwardly projeoting bearing portion 16 terminating in a head 17. This bearing portion 16 is held between a pair of malleable lugs 18 which are adapted to be bent around it from the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 to that shown in full lines, thus permanently securing the locking pin in position so that it cannot become detached from the device. The pin 15 is provided with a portion 19 extending at right angles to the body of the pin and adapted to project through an opening 20 in a lug 21, when the pm is in looking position as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

It will be evident that my device is of Letters Patent oi the United States is:
1. Bi bracket for an uncoupling device having an integral seat for an operating.
lever and a passage tor receiving the lever cooperating with said seat and permitting vertical movement of said lever, of locking means for retaining said lever in operative relation to said seat.
2. A bracket for uncoupling devices having a passage open at the top and adapted to receive an operating lever, and a movable member permanently carried by said bracket and adapted to close the top of said passage to prevent the removal o1 the op erating lever.
3. A bracket for uncoupling devices having an integral seat for an operating lever and a passage for receiving the lever cooperating with said seat and permitting vertical movement of said lever, of a pivoted member permanently carried by said bracket and adapted to retain said lever in operative relation to said seat.
4. A bracket for uncoupling devices provided with an integral seat adapted to receive an uncoupling lever, and means carried by said bracket and moving in a plane substantially parallel to the length of the operating lever for retaining said lever in position.
5. A bracket for uncoupling devices having a passage open at the top and adapted to receive an operating lever, and a pivoted member permanently carried by said bracket and adapted to be swung across the top of said passage. to prevent the removal of the operating lever.
6. A bracket for uncoupling devices having a slot adapted toreoeive an operating lever, said slot being provided with a curved bottom and an open top, and a movable member permanently carried by said bracket and adapted to close the top of said passage to prevent the removal of the operating lever.
7. A bracket for uncoupling devices having a slot adaptedto receive an operating lever, said slot being provided With a curved bottom and an open top, and a pivoted mem- 7 her permanently carried by said bracket and adapted'to close the top of said passage to prevent the removal of the operating lever.
