Be it known that I, LEON LEMBERG, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Seats, of which the following is a specification.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a seat formation adapted for maintenance against warping or bending as well as against the separation of its assembled parts.

A further object of the invention is to provide a means in connection with a sectional seat whereby the portions thereof are firmly united in their assembled relations preventing distortion and separation from any such causes as bending, moisture and the like.

It is well known that in difierent forms of thin seats formed of wood and similar material that constant use and exposure to moisture as well as varied heat conditions may cause the same to warp or separate and my invention is designed to provide an inexpensive means to prevent such disadvantages, the structure being readily applied to such seats and being easy and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these general objects in view the invention will be fully described in connection with the accompanying drawing, and in which like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

Referring more in detail to the drawing,

my invention is herein illustrated in connection with a substantially oval shaped seat formed in side sections 10 and 11 having relatively short front and rear sections 12 and 13 secured therebetween in the usual manner such as by glue, the meeting edges of the sections being ordinarily provided with dove-tailed connections.

A peripheral groove 14 is provided entirely around the seat in the outer edges of all of said sections 10, 11, 12 and 13, the said groove being preferably positioned slightly nearer the bottom face 15 of the seat than the top thereof. A galvanized tie wire 16 is positioned in the groove 14 provided with suitable anchoring means at the opposite ends of the tie wire positioned in an enlarged portion 17 of the groove 14 at the rear side of the seat and heroin illustrated in the nature of a recess 17 centrally of the outer edge of the rear section 13 of the seat.

A loop 18 upon each end of the wire 16 has a screw 19 extending therethrough and threaded into the section 13 through the bottom of the recess 17. The width of said recess 17 is such as to prevent the opening of the loops 18 by reason of strains or tension exerted upon the wire 16 and as any desired form of anchors may be provided, the wire 16 may be passed through screws such as 20 so that the turning or tightening of the screws 20 tensions or tightens the wire 16 for taking up any slack or looseness existing therein In this manner, all of the sections of which the seat is formed are firmly united together and prevented from separation which results in a longer life for the seat while the application of my invention thereto may be easily accomplished either during repair or manufacture.

lrVhat I claim as new is 1. A toilet seat consisting of a frame formed of sections and having a shallow peripheral groove entirely therearound, a wire for binding the seat sections together arranged within said groove and having loops at its ends spaced slightly apart and flatly engaging one section of the seat, said groove having a portion enlarged laterally for snugly accommodating the end loops of the wire to prevent the opening of said loops, and an anchoring screw engagingeach loop and screwed into said one section of the seat.

A toilet seat consisting of a frame formed of sections and having a shallow peripheral groove entirely tlferearound, a wire for binding the seat sections together groove having a portion enlarged laterally for snugly accommodating the end loops of the wire to prevent the openlng of sand loops, and an anchoring screw engaging each loop and screwed into said one seotlon V p of the seat, the wire belng associated Wlth one of said screws whereby rotation of said screw will cause wlndlng of sald securlng wire thereon for tightening the wire and binding of the seat sections tightly together.
