Description
P. G. FASSOULIS. TWINE HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 20, 1918.
Patented Sept. 28, 1920.
Gnu "G 1,
UNITED STATES PETER G. FASSOULIS, 0F SYRACUSE, NEW YORK.
TWINE-HOLDER.
Application filed April 20, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER Gr. FASSOULIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Twine-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in twine holders and the principal object of the invention is to provide means for holding a ball of twine on a part of the person so as to be of easy ac cess, and to save time Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and efficient in operation and one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, ref erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of the device at tached to a persons arm.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the device.
Fig. 3 is a front view.
Fig. 4 is a top view.
As shown in these views the holder is composed of a bottom disk 1 and a top disk 2 connected together by the side pieces 3 and I. I prefer to form said side pieces of a single strip of material bent into U- shape and having its cross piece connected with the bottom disk as shown. The upper disk is hinged to the side 3 by means of the hinges 5 while a latch 6 carried by the disk 2 engages with a bead on hold the-disk in closed position. The bottom disk carries an upright 7 for receiving Specification of Letters Patent.
in tying up articles.
the side t to Patented Sept. 28, 1920. Serial No. 229,797.
the ball of twine, said upright ending at a point immediately below the top disk when the same is in closed position. 8 is a spring clip having a central hole 8 for engaging the upright to act as a brake for the ball of twine. The ends of the clip engage the top disk when the device is in operative position. The arm engaging clips 9 are secured to the side 3 intermediate its ends. The side 4 is provided with a vertical slot 10 and a horizontal slot 11 extends from this slot through one edge of the side a, so that the twine may be drawn through the slot 11 into the slot 10. 12 indicates a cutter carried by the side 4 and located adjacent said slot for cutting the twine.
It will thus be seen that the twine will be always at hand and can be held by either hand. The twine is prevented from unwinding too fast by the spring clip and said twine may be easily cut by the cuttel 12.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make such changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
\Vhat I claim is A twine holder comprising a bottom disk, a U-shaped member having its cross piece extending across the disk and its legs forming side pieces, a top disk hinged to one of said side pieces, latch means connecting said top disk with the other side piece, a spool spindle passing through the bottom disk and the cross piece, a spring clip on the upper end of the spindle and acting as a brake for the spool placed on said spindle, one of said side pieces having a vertical slot therein and a horizontal slot communieating therewith and extending through one edge of said piece and a cutting member on said side piece adjacent said vertical slot.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
PETER Gr. FASSOULIS.
