cise, and exact description, reference'being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a art of this specification.
his invention relates to attachment plugs and similar devices and more particularly to contact anchoring means therefor.
In certain devices, as in the case of attachment plugs where molded insulating parts are employed to carry contacts, considerable diflicultyhas been experienced in rigidly attaching the contacts thereto, and the present invention hasamong its objects to provide simple and effective means tor this purpose.
A further object is to facilitate and expeditethe securement of the contacts to the insulating parts and to reduce the cost of such operation. 1
Other objects and'advantages will, hereinafter appear.
In the accompanying drawing, wherein is illustrated an embodiment of the invention, Figure 1 is a plan view of an attachment plug cap, and,
Fig.2 is a side elevational view, partly in section, of. the same. 7
Referring to the drawing, the cap comprises a molded insulating base 1 centrally perforated and provided with an annular rim 2 and a pair of projecting contacts *3 and 4 each having anoifset portion 5 to be secured to and definitely positioned upon said base. I The securing or anchoring means for said contacts comprises a pair of metal inserts 6 molded in said base in a parallel relation and e uidistant from the center of the base. Eac insert is provided with diverging shoulder 7 for securely anchoring the same within the base and is further provided with a pair of integral lugs-8, 9 suitabl spaced and projecting beyondthe surface 9 the base to engage snugly Within a pair oi similarly spaced openings in the oil'set portion of one contact. The lug 8 extends through the contact portion 5 and is riveted thereto for insuring permanent and rigid attachment of the contact to the base, while the lug 9 insures against lateral displacement of the Specification 0! Letters Patent.

contact. The latter lug need not be riveted. although itmight be riveted similarly'to the former lug, if so desired; i
The above described anchoring means serves not only to insure accurate positioning and 'ri id securement of the contacts, butalso fac litates attachment thereof, since the projecting lugs assist in locating the contact in the desired position between the opening in the base and the rim. Thereafter one or both lugs may be riveted to the contact for permanentlysecuring the same in position.
e What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination with a molded insulating base and a contact to be'secured thereto, of a metal insert molded in. said base and having integral lugs projecting from said base and engaging with said contact at spaced points to definitely position'the same, v and one of said lugs being utilized to rivet v said contact to-said base;
2. The combination with a molded insulating base and a contact to be secured thereto,
said contact having an offset portion providcd with spaced opcningsgof a metal insert molded in said base and provided with integral lugs projecting from said base and snugly fitting the openings in the oil'set portion of said contact, one of said lugs projecting through said oiiset portion and being riveted for anchoring of said contact.
3. The combination Witha molded insulating base and a contact tobe secured thereto, of a lmetal insert molded in said base, said contact being secured to said insert at a given point and said insert having an integral lug engaging said contact at a spaced point for steadying the same.
4. The combination with an attachment plug cap comprising a molded insulating.
base having a central opening and a concentric rim, 'and "a contact having an offset portion to fit said insuiatingbase between its central opening and rinn of a metal in sert molded in said baseand provided with spaced lugs'projccting from said base for interlocking engagement with the oil'set ortion of said'contactand one of said lugs penetrating said ofl'set portion and being riveted thereto.
An attachment plug cap comprising a molded insulating base, a metal insert molded therein andhaving a lag projecting therefromand a contact comprising perpendicularly disposed portions, one of said portions being riveted to said base by said lug and the other projecting away from said base, said contact and one of the other of '.said elements having engaging parts to molded insulating base, a contact havln an offset portion, a metal insert molded in said base.
said base and projecting therefrom into said offset portion of said contact, said contact portion and said insert having abutting faces insuring definite positioning ot'said contact on said base and said insert having :1 portion ufl'ording u rivet to secure said contact to CHARLES J. KLEIN.
