DOUBLE CLAMP.
APPLICATION FILED IAY 21. 1920.

UNITED STATES PATENT omen GEORGE T. BENTON, OF WILLOW SPRINGS, MISSOURI, ASSIG-NOB O]? ONE-HALF '1'0 OTTIS A. McDILL, F WILLOW SPRINGS, MISSOURI.
DOUBLE CLAMP.
Application filed m 21,
To all whom it may concern:
- Be it known that I, Gnonon T. BENTON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Willow Springs, in the county of Howell and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Double Clamps, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates generally to clamping devices, and more articularly to a double clamp which may be utilized for various purposes in connection with the fitting and settin of doors, windows and the like, my objectlming the-provision of a simple efiective double clamp of a jointed nature which will facilitate certain specific operations inaddition to 'its more general ap lication in other uses.
11 the accompanying drawing illustrating my present invention,
Figure 1 is a sectional side view illustrating the practical application of my invention,
Fig. 2 .is an edge view,
Fig. 3 is a sectional view through one of the c amping members taken on line 3--3 of Fig. 1, v
ig. 4 is a detail perspective view of one of the clampin frames,
Fig. 5 is a etail pe arspective view of a portion of the other me, and r Fig. 6.is a detail perspective view of one of the clamping levers.
Referring now to these figures, each of the clam ing members or devices includes a U-sha clamping frame 10, one terminal of which has a laterally elongated bearing piece 11 and through the other terminal 0 which is threaded a clagfing screw 12 preferably having a swivel clamping piece 18 at its inner end opposing the aring late or piece 11 and having an adjusting ever 14 pivoted to its outer end. The two clamping frames have shanks 15 and 16 prorovided with o njecting therefrom and atter of whic is mgs 17 and 18 the I v threaded so that the shank ends may be con- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 14, 1920.

nected in overlapping relation and pivoted to one another by a pivot pin 19 in the form of a thumb screw. The shank 15 has ribs 20 arranged at diametrically opposite sides of its opening 17 and the shank 16 has a series of recesses 21 radiating from its 0 ing 18 and into selected recesses of w ich the ribs 20 may be extended so that by tightening the pivot formingthumb screw 19, the shanks 15 and 16 may be adjustably secured in desired angular relationship.
Thus by means of the clam the opposite art indicated necting movable objects to stationaryfob jects where the size of the movable 0 set to be planed, grooved or otherwise opera upon,'is too large in size for clampi in a bench vise, and it is to be and that my invention contemplates a clamp of this nature as applied in cgeneral use to any and alllpiirposes for whi it may be adapted.
A sectional clamp, each section'including an outer U-shaped frame ha a bearing member at one side and iiii adjustable clamping element thro h its op to side opposing the said g memgibean and a ank at the outer end 0 which the frame is disposed, the inner ends of the two-shanks being pivoted in overlappinisrelation and having relatively engaging ri and around their not, and a clam mg wing bolt forming t e pivot between whereby-the two sections may be readily adjusted and rigidly held.
