UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTON LINK, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
MOP.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON LINK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Mop, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is a mop adapted to be employed for cleaning simultaneously, the floor of an apartment, and the base board thereof.
The invention aims to provide novel means whereby the heads of the mop may be held in proper relation to each other upon a carrying frame.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the WVith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 shows in side elevation, a device constructed in accordance with the invention;
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the frame;
Fig. 4 is a side elevation wherein parts are broken away; and
Fig. ,5 is an elevation showing the clamp.
Fig. 6 is a fragmental elevationshowing the meeting ends of the brush-heads.
In carrying out the invention, there is provided a frame 1 which may be made of aluminum or any other material. The frame 1 includes parts 2 and 3 disposed at an angle to each other. The invention includes a head 4 and a head 5, the heads being substantially alike. Each head includes a tubular member 6 and a body 7. If desired, the tubular member 6 may be in the form of a piece of cloth or other flexible material overlapped at 9 on the body 7 and secured thereto by stitching indicated at 10. The tubular member 6 of the head 4 is slipped on the Specification of Letters Patent. Patent d A Hg 17 192 Application filed March 4, 1920.
Serial No. 363,226.
lar members 6 are beveled as indicated at 8,
so that they may fit closely together, at the angle defined by the parts 2 and 8 of the frame 1. S1milarly, the inner ends of the body portions 7 of the heads il: and 5 are cut oil at an angle, as shown at 11, so that they may fit closely together and define an angle adapted to operate in the space at the juncture of the floor and the base board.
A means is provided whereby the heads 1 and 5 may be held on the parts 3 and 2 of the frame member 1 in the position above described. This means preferably takes the form of a clamp 12 having jaws 14 carried by slde members 15, the side members havmg alternating parts 16 defining a socket adapted to receive a handle 18, the side members 15 beingsupplied with interengaglng lugs 17 whichstrengthen the device and aid in holding the side members 15 in proper relation with respect to each other. The clamp above alluded to has not been described in great detail, because it is covered in my co-pending application Serial No. 315,781, filed August 6, 1919, allowed Dec. 15, 1919. No novelty is claimed in this pres ent application, for the clamp, saving in so far as it may enter into combination with other parts new and peculiar to my application.
It will be obvious that the heads 1 and 5 may be mounted on the parts 3 and 2 of the frame 1, in the manner hereinbefore set forth. The tubular members 6 of the heads 4; and 5 are gripped, adjacent to the angle defined by the parts 2 and 3 of the frame 1,
by the jaws 14 of the clamp 12. The handle 18 is inserted into the rings 16, so as to hold the side members 15 together, and to cause the jaws 14 to grip the tubular parts 6 as aforesaid. Owing to the fact that these tubular parts 6 are made, preferably of cloth or some other flexible material, the tubular members and, consequently, the corresponding heads 41 and 5 will be held securely on the frame 1. The clamp exercises a double function in that it constitutes a means for receiving the handle 18, and con stitutes, also, means for holding the heads 4: and 5 on the parts of the frame 1.
Having thus described the invention, What In testimony that I claim the foregoing is claimed is as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signu- 10 In a device of the (glass describedl, a flralge ture in the presence of two witnesses. com risin arts ce ning an ang e; we s H T y 5 rem vably l nounted on the parts of the Ah frame and a, handle having means for grip- Witnesses: ping both heads at the angle defined by the JOHN D.
