My invention further consists in a blade frame, a plate detachably secured thereto, said plate having a serrated forward edge, and a blade detachably secured to the frame with its inner end or heel interfitted with the serrated edge of the plate, with the inner faces of the plate and blade flush with each other.
This invention further consists in a shear mounting, and means for operating the movable blade of the shears by hand or foot power as preferred.

Each plate is provided with a transverse elongated slot 2 and 2 respectively which slots register with each other as one, when the plate of each plate is secured in place, and within these slots the hub 4 of the pivot 5, is fitted at the side, but the slots are of greater length than the major diameter of the hub, in order to admit of adjustment of the shear frames and blades with respect to the hub l and pivot 5, and this adjustment is effected by the two set screws or bolts 6 and 7, one above, and one below each hub, with their ends bearing thereupon on opposite sides thereof. To adjust the blades up and down with respect to each other, it is simply necessary to apply a wrench to unscrew one and tighten the other, to adjust the blades in one direction; and to adjust the blades in the opposite direction the order of turning the set screws or bolts is reversed.
To secure the hubs in place, each hub is provided with a head or plate 8 on one end, and this is provided with slots 9, through which the bolts 10 pass, and these screw into threaded holes in the heel of the adjacent blade to hold the hub securely in place, after adjustment.
25 indicates a flat spring having an orifice therein which receives the extended end held thereon by the nut 26. One end of the spring is slotted as at 27, and slidably secured to the frame B as at 27, while the other end is bent under upon itself, as at 28. and is adapted to bear against the plate B, the construction as a whole acting to maintain a lateral tension upon the shearing blades.
By these two adjustments the cutting edges of the blades may be set to cut as desired. The adjustment is capable of great refinement for the work to be done, and is simple and efiective.
As a convenient mounting, I have planned a table 12 (as shown in plate 1). This table is provided with a slot 13 (as shown in 6) and in this slot the lower blade a of the shears is adapted to be secured by means of bolts 12 passing through the rear 13 of the fixed blade A and the bracket 14: attached to the table 12, with the cutting edge extending there above a fraction of an inch, say three-eighths, (as shown in Fig. 1).
The table is mounted on suitable legs lt to give it the required support and height. A shaft 15 is mounted to rock in the brackets 16 depending from the table. A link 17 se cured on this shaft is pivotally connected with the link 18, and a spring 20 extends from the lower end oflink 18 to the floor or other ,fixed .point to normal-1y raise the upper'blade Bof the shears (as shown in igl) A lever 21 preterably made of several sections adjustably connected together is adapted .to be used either as a foot or hand lever, and for this purpose it has a socket 22 adapted to receive the foot piece 23 or the hand piece 24: (as shown in Fig. 2) as the case may be,
