Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 13, 1920.
,Appncationmed Marca 2o. 1920. serial No. 367,345..
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. REULE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Belt-Buckles, of which the following is a specification.
rif'his invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in belt buckles and the primary object of the invention is to provide a buckle of this type with means, such as a hook which engages a front belt loop on the trousers and holds the belt against movement.
The invention further aims to provide means which is of simple and economical construction, reliable and effective in operation and which is devoid of any movable parts subject to derangement and requiring special manipulation.
In the drawings Figure 1, isy a front side elevation of a buckle equipped with tlie'present invention: Fig. 2 is a top plan view, and
Fig. 3 is a rear elevation, partly in section. Y
In proceeding` in accordance Vwith Vthe present invention, the type of buckle represented in the drawings may vary and be ef any desired form, for example same may have front plate or body l; a cam type of pin clamp 2 and a pivoted bail 3, one end of the belt being permanently aflixed to the bail vwhile the other end is adjustably held by the cam pin or roller 2.
The invention resides in the provision of a hook 4E of approximately U-form and.
which may be constructed of a piece of wire or strip of metal. The free end 5 of the hook is spaced below the top flange 6 of the face or front plate, while the opposite end of leg 7 of the hook is extended above end 5 and terminates in a'right angular part 8,
which latter is rigidly secured to the under face of flange 6 in any suitable manner. The entire hook structure is spaced from the front plate l of the buckle so that the trousers loop L can be ,engaged between thehook and plate l and by the ends 5 and 7 of the hook.
As shown in Fig. 3, the loop L, which is of fabric is sewed at its lower end to the front of the trousers T, sov that thefree upper end of the loop can be easily engaged with the hooky as depicted in Fig. 3.
