Description

A. PAPINI.
DEVICE FOR CLAMPING FLUID HFATERS WITH SUPPLY MEMBERS. APPLICATION man AUG.H, 1919.
1,345,396. Patented July 6, 1920.

vANIA.
To coll whom it, may concern:
Be it known tl'iat- I, AN'roNio PAPINI, a subject of the. King of Italy, havingresided in the United Statesone year last past and having declared my intentionof becoming a citizen thereof, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylinvention is not limited to the specific details shown and described, as long as they are within the spirit or scope of the claims.
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a clamp attachable to a faucet, and a fluid heater embodying my invention.
Fig- 2 represents a side elevation of the device at a right angle to Fig. 1, and a partial vertical section on line 22 Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section on line 33 Fig. 2. I
Fig. 4: represents a horizontal section of a detached portion on line 4.4 Fig. 1. Fig. 5 represents'a section of a modification of the device. 7
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures. Referring to the drawings,
1 designates the nozzle of a faucet, or in lieu thereof that of a spigot or other supply of water or fluid.
2 designates a device for heating water which is directed thereinto from the nozzle 1, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
3 designates a yoke which is open so as to receive a proper portion of the nozzle 1, it having been provided with the thumb or set screw 4 whose point is adapted to engage the side of said nozzle, so that when said screw is tightened the yoke is firmly clamped to said nozzle. As seen in Fig. 3 the yoke is V Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed August 11, 1919. Serial N6. 316,554.

formed with the converging arms 3? form ing an angular clamp to engage the nozzle thus adaptingthe same for ready use in con,
nection with nozzles of different diameters.
On the side of the yoke'are the gudgeons 5" on which is mounted pivotally theforked angular lever 6 which is provided with the handle 7. whereby said lever may be lowered and raised. On the upperflimbs 8 of said lever aregudgeons 9 onwhich are pi-votally mounted the upper ends of the crank arms 10, whose lower ends are pivotally' connected with-ears l0 on the conduit 11, the latter thus depending from said arms and being composed of a block of suitable material having therein a vertical inlet 12 to receive the lower end of the nozzle 1, and permit Water to flow thereinto, said block having also a horizontal passage 13 which is in communication with said inlet, and also with the conveyer pipe 14 which is connected with the sides of said block and the casing of the heater 2, and communicates with the interior of the latter;
The operation is as follows The lever 6 having been raised, the conduit 11 is presented to the mouth of the neath said mouth. Then the lever is raised 1 whereby as said lever and the arms 10 have different centers the limbs 8 of the lever raise the arms carrying the conduit with the latter, whereby the inlet 12 of the conduit receives the mouth of the nozzle, and said conduit is pressed firmly against said mouth and so held firmlythereagainst, the inlet having therein the packing or gasket 15 to form a water tight joint with the faucet.
The heater may in this manner be sus tained on the faucet and so when the water is turned on at the faucet it will flow into the conduit and the conveyer, and from thence into the, heater 2, where it'may be heated, in which condition it may be discharged through the pipe 16 where required.
When the lever is lowered, the conduit descends and is removed from the mouth of the faucet. The screw 4 may be loosened and so the yoke 3 with its attachments may be disconnected from the faucet and with it the heater 2.
InFig. 5 I show the conduit 11 provided with a threaded sleeve 17 for connection therewith of a hose ior directing fluid into said conduit from the latter to a place of use.
' In this case, the sleeve 17 is adapted to have the coupling 18 of the hose 19 secured thereto. The passage 13 in the conduit 11 of the other figures is dispensed with, and the vertical inlet 12 is extended upwardly forming the nipple 20 which isadapted to enter the end of the nozzle 1, said conduit being adapted to be clamped to said end of thenozzle as shown in the other figures, it
being seen that the fluid from the faucet,
"etc., flows therefrom through the conduit 11 into the hose, and by the latter may be directed to the place of service.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A fluid receiver, crank arms pivotally connected therewith, a lever pivotally connected with said arms, and a clamp detachable to a member of a fluid-supply device and to which said lever is pivoted with its pivot intermediate the and arms. r v
2. A fluid receiver, crank arms pivotally connected therewith, a lever pivotally connected with said arms, and a clamp detachable to a member ofa fluid-supplydevice and to which said lever is pivoted with its pivot intermediate the pivots of said lever and arms, said clamp having converging arms to engage said member.
3. r& fluid receiver, a yoke open to receive a nozzle and having converging arms, a set screw to force said nozzle between said arms,
a lever pivotally mounted on said yoke, and
having limbs extended beyond its pivot, and
arms pivotally connected to said fluid receiver and to said limbs.
