To all 'whom t may concernz. y Be it known that I, OSCAR CALVIN Mej- BRIDE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Granite, in the county of Kiowa and-State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Cotcation.
My invention relatesgenerally to improvements in cotton gins, and more particton-Gins, of whichy the yfollowing isa specii- Y maintain the door in closed position against ularly to improvements inlintflues thereof.
An importantfobj ect of my invention is to provide a lint flue with means adapted to automatically operate to discharge thel cot# ton from the lint flue when the pressure therein becomes excessivey by reason of the improper action of the condenser or to other causes.
Anotherobject is to provide a device yof this kind which will not necessitate any special construction of gin or condenser, and which will not in any way interfere with the normal operation of the'cotton gin as -a whole.
Other objects and advantages reside'in certain novel advantagesk of the construction, arrangement andcombinationof parts whichwill become apparent as the descrip` tion proceeds, reference being hadqto the accompanying drawings forming a part of .this specification, and in which Y Figure 1 is an elevational view of my invention, parts being broken` away for the sake of illustration,

The lint llue 5 is usually of circular cross section asshown in Fig. 2, and is provided with an opening Sin the wall thereofwhich constitutes the vent. A closure, preferably in the form of a door 9 is provided for the opening and hinged thereto at its lower end as at .9. Any suitable means which will `adapted to coperate with the door so as to allow the door to swing outwardly under the influence of excessive pressure so as not to `impede the discharge of the cotton from the flue but to hold sameclosed against normal i pressure.
.The spring catch 10 comprises a bracket portion consisting of a base 11 secured to the wallv of the lint flue b means of bolts and nuts 12 or the like. formed integral with the base and are provided with alined aperturesto receive vthe pivot bolt 14 mounted therein. A trip 15 is mounted on the pivot bolt 14 and has its lower end 15 bearingy against the upper end of the door 9. The door then falls; freely outward and the cotton flows freely outof the opening. YIn this manner any possibility of the cotton backing up. into 'the ginA proper and thereby damagingF the same .is effectively precluded,
After the clogging has been relieved, the door is closedl andy the trip reset by seizing the portion 15 and pulling the same down to position near the door.
